As required by law, the Gwinnett County Board of Education (BOE) will hold three public hearings as part of its process for opting out of House Bill 581. The first hearing was held on January 16 at 6 p.m. The second and third public hearings will take place on February 20 at 11:00 a.m. and 6 p.m.

At an event that celebrates some of Gwinnett County’s brightest students, Justin Jiang, of the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST), was named Gwinnett County’s STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) Student, representing Gwinnett County’s public and private schools.
On February 6, 2025, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) hosted its first-ever Valedictorian & Salutatorian Breakfast Celebration, recognizing the academic excellence of the district’s top graduates in the Class of 2025.

Earlier this school year, more than 370 Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) students have been honored for their world language proficiency by the state of Georgia, more than any other school district in the state.
