Throughout the school year, our students study the achievements of African Americans from the state of Georgia and across the United States as part of Gwinnett County's Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum. February is a special month to learn more about the accomplishments and contributions notable African Americans have made to our country. The following African Americans are only some of the people that have been highlighted on the morning announcements by Mrs. Lillard. Go to eCLASS to learn more!

Parent Involvement Survey
Parents of student with an Individual Education Program (IEP) please complete the Parent Involvement Survey by May 31, 2021. This survey from the Georgia Department of Education will help guide local schools’ efforts to improve Special Education services and results for children and families.

Dr. Seuss Week is March 1st - 5th
Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday while you help support Brookwood Elementary's Relay for Life Team! All in-person and digital students are invited to participate. A $5 donation is appreciated for participation in the week's theme days:
- Monday, March 1 - Seuss Silly Sock Day
- Tuesday, March 2 - Digital Learning Day - Post a photo reading to your pet or stuffy.
- Wednesday, March 3 - Slipper Day (Remember to bring tennis shoes for P.E. and Recess!)
- Thursday, March 4 - Hat Day
- Friday, March 5 - Book Character Dress Up Day
Donations will benefit Relay for Life and can be made payable at booths through the school building or via MyPaymentsPlus.

March 2nd is a Digital Learning Day for ALL Students
On March 2nd, GCPS will have a digital learning day for all students to allow teachers to plan future lessons for students. On this Digital Learning Day:
- Students can find all their lessons on eCLASS, but there will be no live instruction.
- The Media Center will be closed for book check-out.
- Curbside Meal Pick Up at Brookwood Elementary will be open. Meal delivery will occur along bus routes.

Tapestry Art Show
Gwinnett County Public School's Art Show, Tapestry, will showcase the work of the school system's talented young artists from March 2 - 8, 2021. The Brookwood Cluster will be featured on March 2, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 pm. You may visit the Tapestry Art show any evening at the Gwinnett County Instruction Support Center at 437 Old Peachtree Rd NW, Suwanee, Georgia 30024. Masks are required inside the building.

Spring Picture Day
Spring Pictures will be March 11, 2021 for in-person and digital students. Due to Covid protocols, there will be no class pictures taken; students will only take individual pictures.

- Last names beginning with G-L - 2:00-2:15
- Last names beginning with M-S - 2:15-2:30

Join Brookwood Elementary's Team for Run the Reagan!
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in our local community, Run the Reagan will hold a virtual race March 20th thru March 31st. Run the Reagan's road race helps to support the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry, Lilburn Co-op, and the Brookwood Schools Foundation.

Curbside Lunch Pick-Up
Meals are available for pick-up Monday - Friday from 12 pm - 1pm. Students will be offered the choice of both a breakfast and a lunch each day.

Book Check Out from the Media Center

Parent Vue App - Now Available
The Synergy Parent mobile app, ParentVUE, is now available for use. The app is available in the Apple App Store, as well as the Google Play Store. An active Parent Portal account is required to log in to ParentVUE.
- It will allow parents, who have a parent portal account, to view schedules, grades, see when assignments are due, view graduation requirements, find missing assignments, and view other important student information.
- If you have a Parent Portal account you will use the same log in username (email) and password that you use online.

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students Can Receive Help via Tutor.com
Beginning Wednesday, April 8th, the Gwinnett County Public Library is partnering with Gwinnett County Public Schools to provide online tutoring support to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Gwinnett students through Tutor.com. Students will need a library account to access the service. They will be able to sign on for individual tutoring sessions daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and for 24/7 “drop-off” support (uploading a document for tutor review/feedback to be returned at a later time).
