  • Revised Back-to-School Plans

In response to the latest guidance for K-12 schools issued on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Gwinnett County Public Schools has updated its back-to-school plans to require masks. As of July 28, 2021, masks will be required for students, staff, and visitors to all Gwinnett County Public Schools’ facilities and on school buses, regardless of vaccination status. This decision takes into account current conditions, the rise in COVID-19 case rates in Gwinnett County, and the ineligibility of children age 12 and younger for the vaccine.

As we prepare for the school year, GCPS would like to remind families that the wearing of masks is strongly recommended in our facilities. Please note that CDC guidance continues to recommend that unvaccinated individuals wear face coverings/masks.

According to the CDC, vaccination is currently the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic and getting a vaccination can help keep students, families, and staff members healthy. With that in mind, GCPS would like to remind all Gwinnett community members who are eligible, including students who are 12 and older, that they can contact the Gwinnett Health Department or other health provider to receive the COVID vaccination.

In addition, a reminder that two other childhood vaccinations are required for school admission: MCV4 (required for new 7th graders, with a booster for 11th graders who are 16 years old or older) and Tdap (required for rising 7th graders). (Note that new kindergarten students have additional immunization and health screening requirements. Learn more on the Kindergarten Registration page.)

We look forward to the new year and welcoming students and teachers back to learning and back to fun, and, most of all, being back together in our schools!

  • The building doors open at 8:50. Car riders and buses will unload at 8:50. Parents will not be allowed to escort students to classrooms; we will have plenty of teachers to help students find their classes. The official school day begins at 9:20 and students are tardy after this time. We will dismiss at 4 PM.

PLEASE DO NOT USE BUS LANES FOR DROP OFF – CAR RIDERS ALWAYS USE THE BACK PARKING LOT!
