Update from GCPS, 7/7:
During a special called meeting on July 7, 2020, the Gwinnett County Board of Education and Gwinnett County Public Schools CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks discussed plans for the coming school year and made the following decisions:
1.) Delay the start of school year in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) until August 12, giving the district additional time to review and adjust its return to school plans to best meet students’ needs and to reflect the most updated guidance from public health officials. 2020-21 School Year Calendar (Revised 7-7-2020)
2.) Require GCPS employees and students, and visitors to school facilities, to wear masks or face coverings. Medical professionals recommend social distancing and the wearing of a mask or face covering as two primary steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19
3.) Increase pre-planning time for teachers by adding five days
4.) Cancel the Class of 2020 in-person graduations scheduled for July 13-19

Rising 9th Grade Update (7/6)
Rising 6th grade News!
As you will recall from our rising 6th grade virtual meeting in March, all sixth graders at Coleman Middle School will be enrolled in Accelerated Mathematics in the fall. Your child is ready for this challenge!
To support your child, we have developed a 6th grade math website with resources including practice material. We highly recommend all students review Unit 1 and Unit 2 throughout the summer to prepare for sixth grade in August. The website is located at https://sites.google.com/g.gcpsk12.org/coleman6math/home.
Camp Coleman has been POSTPONED. We are NOT accepting registrations at this time. Stay tuned for more details as the summer progresses.
We have designed a website that includes the information that would have covered in both our parent and student meeting: https://tinyurl.com/yx5q2dgv
Connection suggestions have CLOSED for the 2020-21 school year.
Please let us know if you have questions.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the summer.

Summer Resources NOW AVAILABLE!
Given ongoing concerns about COVID-19 and a thorough review of the current situation, GCPS has announced that it will not move forward with its traditional face-to-face summer school for elementary and middle school students this year.
Instead, GCPS will provide Summer Resources online for students and families — GCPS has compiled a number of online reading/language arts and mathematics resources for students. The resources can be found here:
These resources will be helpful for all students to prepare for the next school.
Devices are available for summer checkout. Contact the front office (678-407-7400) during regular business hours for more information.
Please continue to check Coleman’s website throughout the summer for up-to-date information regarding the opening of the 2020-21 school year.
The building doors open at 8:50. Car riders and buses will unload at 8:50. Parents will not be allowed to escort students to classrooms; we will have plenty of teachers to help students find their classes. The official school day begins at 9:20 and students are tardy after this time. We will dismiss at 4 PM.
PLEASE DO NOT USE BUS LANES FOR DROP OFF – CAR RIDERS ALWAYS USE THE BACK PARKING LOT!
