Mrs. Haynes Introduction Letter
Dear Jenkins Elementary Families,
I am honored and humbled to join the Jenkins Elementary family in the proud Central Gwinnett Cluster of Gwinnett County Public Schools. As I assume the role of principal, I will continue the strong traditions of academic excellence, high expectations for our students and staff, and community relationship building that have been staples of the success of Jenkins Elementary School.
As I join this community, I bring with me a wealth of educational experiences that span over twenty years. I started my career in 1999 as a high school math teacher in my hometown of Brooklyn, New York after graduating from Spelman College here in Atlanta. My career in Gwinnett began in 2006 as a special education teacher at the high school level which led to an elementary school teaching opportunity. In 2012, I became an elementary school administrator in the Meadowcreek cluster and most recently, I served as a middle school administrator in the Archer cluster. I am excited to bring all of these experiences together to create the best learning environment for our students at Jenkins Elementary School. The greatness that is in our students will be nurtured and tilled as we work together to meet their needs. I invite you to partner with me and the staff of Jenkins to ensure the success of our scholars. While I certainly understand that these are challenging times, we, in partnership with you will make decisions to serve our scholars and this community in a way that brings out their very best each day.
Personally, I want you to know that I am a wife to Randolph Haynes and a mother of three children; Destiny, currently in college at Clark Atlanta University, Jayden, a high school senior, and Braylon, my 7th grader. They keep us quite busy with activities that stem from multiple sports, coding classes and community-based activities. Please know that in my leadership style, you will find the heart of a parent and teacher. It is important to me to lead through the lens of excellence and compassion for students’ academic, social and emotional needs.
I deeply understand the importance of what we do each day as educators and what is at stake. For that reason, we will work collaboratively to ensure that we provide every opportunity for the success of our students. I believe in the work that is happening at Jenkins Elementary and we are blessed to have the most amazing staff and students. My administrative team and I look forward to serving this community well. However, we know that we cannot do this work without you and your continued support. In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to meeting the students and families of this community and, I am excited to serve you as your new principal.
Mrs. Tameika Turner-Haynes
We will provide students with rigorous, engaging and quality lessons that are relatable to real life experiences supporting their individual learning styles challenging them to strive towards higher levels of student performance and development of their Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills.
We envision a school where all children reach their peak level of academic, social, behavioral and emotional ability successfully becoming life-long learners and citizens who productively contribute to society.
