Digital Learning Days
Friday, March 13, is a scheduled student/teacher holiday for Gwinnett County Public Schools. For the week of March 16-20, GCPS will hold Digital Learning Days. On Thursday, March 19, the school system will announce its plans for March 23-27, following a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation at that time.
All GCPS events and activities are cancelled effective 6 a.m. Friday, March 13, until further notice. This includes all school events, extracurricular activities, school-related trips, community school events, and facility rentals.
Here is a message from our principal, Dr. Yvette Arthur:
Greetings to All:
As we navigate this uncertain time period, we ask that you stay calm, well, and safe! Please make sure that you practice all safety precautions too. We ask that you continue to monitor your emails for the latest updates. Don't forget to check our LMS website daily. In preparation for Digital Learning next week, please read the following information:
Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) announced on Thursday, March 12 that it will be doing Digital Learning Days the week of March 16-20 as part of its response to the COVID-19 situation. The school district has successfully held DLDs in past years in response to inclement weather situations. While this is a different situation, our schools and teachers are prepared to deliver instruction virtually to minimize the disruption to learning.
How will it work for students?
On a Digital Learning Day, teachers will post assignments on their eCLASS C&I course pages. High school assignments will be posted by 7:30 a.m. Elementary school assignments will be posted by 9 a.m. And, middle school assignments will be posted by 10:30 a.m.
Students will use the MyeCLASS student portal to log in to their eCLASS C&I course pages where they will access assignments, resources, and other materials. If a student does not have access to a computer or device (tablet, smartphone, etc.), teachers may provide alternative ways to access assignments (e.g., via email), or the student can get the assignment once school resumes.
Student work will be expected to be turned in to the teacher (either digitally or in person) as explained by the teacher. Teachers will share additional information with students about Digital Learning Days, including how they will support student learning during the day. (For example, some teachers may set up a discussion board while others may use online conference tools or be available via phone.)
Parents and students who need a refresher course on how to access eCLASS C&I course pages can go to the following web page for helpful resources and information:
Thanks for all that you do to support teaching and learning at LMS. We truly appreciate your partnership during this challenging times. Continue to stay hopeful and know that all will work out!
