All about Meadowcreek Elementary School!
Meadowcreek's History
Meadowcreek Elementary opened in the Fall of 1998 to relieve overcrowding at Hopkins, Nesbit, Lilburn, and Rockbridge elementary schools. Our school assumed the name of our cluster high school, which was named for the Meadows Family School and for the Creek Indians, both of which once were located near the site of the high school
Meadowcreek Elementary is the first school in Gwinnett County to be funded by the 1997 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. The school is a two story structure with an attached gym, a unique configuration for a Gwinnett elementary school. Our proximity to Norcross Human Services Center (NHSC), an adjacent facility, gives the school an additional distinction. Parents have increased opportunities to become involved in their child's education, while gaining easy access to a range of social services at the Center. Our neighbor, Greater Atlanta Christian School, once owned the property where our school sits. The school president lived in a stately house on this site, which overlooks the private school. Later, a developer purchased the land for a shopping center complex that was never built. Piece by piece, the land has been bought by businesses and, of course, Gwinnett County Public Schools.
