  • Health and Wellness Resources

    • When students stay healthy throughout the year, absence due to illness is significantly reduced. • Under a state law passed by the Georgia State Legislature in 2007, parents of students who receive special education services may request to transfer their child to another public or private school in Georgia provided that their child has an IEP and has been enrolled for a full academic year in a Georgia public school.

Parents who are interested in transferring their child to a private school in Georgia may be able to take advantage of a Georgia Special Needs Scholarship.  These scholarships provide funding that can be used to offset tuition costs at participating private schools in the state of Georgia.  In order to be eligible to receive the scholarship, a student must be in attendance at an authorized private school for the Fall.  There are no exceptions to this deadline. For more information on the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship and the application process, please visit the Georgia Department of Education's website.

As we approach the Kindergarten Registration “season,” we wanted to share with you the district’s promotional plans and the tools that will be available to you.

Starting with the 2021-22 school year, GCPS will no longer hold a one-day Kindergarten Registration Round-up event as we have in the past. Instead, registration will be a two-step process:

      *   Step 1: Online registration on the GCPS website, starting April 6, and
      *   Step 2: Registration intake activities (KREP testing, etc.) at school, between April 12 and May 28.

We know that it will be a challenge to reach families through more traditional methods due to a number of factors, including restricted capacity at daycares and fewer in-person school activities for families. With so many more children at home and not in a formal educational setting, it will be more important than ever that families receive additional support in preparing children for kindergarten.

The Kindergarten Registration web page will be updated by April 5.

    https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/26080

Please contact Mrs. Bonzie Lea at (770)232-3284 to schedule an appointment and discuss the documents needed to complete the registration.

We look forward to meeting our new Wildcat!

    AKS at Home

As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that fits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information at a time that best fits their schedule, or gain tips and suggestions on how to best help their students through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics.
