  • Summer is here! It’s time for sun, fun, and the Gwinnett County Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge! Whether you’re young and enjoying a break from school or a bit older and just grateful for a little more sunshine, this is the perfect season to explore new stories, ideas, and places. So join GCPL’s Tails & Tales Summer Reading Challenge, get motivated to stay curious, and earn awesome prizes along the way!

    Tails & Tales: Summer Reading Challenge 2021

    June 1st to August 13th

    To participate in this year’s challenge, visit gwinnettpl.beanstack.org/reader365, and log into your existing Beanstack account or sign up for a new one if you’re a first time user. Pre-registration for the 2021 Challenge will begin on May 1st. 


    Whether you use Beanstack through a web browser or through the app, you’ll be able to log minutes, earn virtual badges, discover cool videos, and more all summer long. And if you can stop by one of our library branches and visit us during the summer, be sure to pick up your very own Summer Reading Challenge welcome pack.


    Kindergarten, Here We Come: Summer Reading Challenge 2021

    Birth through Age 5

    Log the books you read to your little one to earn awesome prizes, including our Grand Prizes: a virtual storytime with a super special animal guest and a trip for 5 for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Read 25 times - Win a free book!
    Read 50 times - Win a second free book!
    Read 75 times - Win a third free book and earn an entry into our Grand Prize raffles!
    Read 100 times - Win a fourth free book and earn another entry into our Grand Prize raffles! All prizes are while supplies last. 

    Tails & Tales: Summer Reading Challenge

    Grades K-12th 

    Log the minutes you spend reading this summer to earn points towards awesome prizes. Every minute spent reading earns you one point and, if you’re up for an extra challenge, you can earn even more points for earning our animal-inspired Activity Badges. With enough points, you could win up to four books this summer, or maybe even one of our Grand Prizes: a virtual visit with a live animal and a trip for 5 for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary! 

    Earn 350 points - Win a free book!
    Earn 700 points - Win a second free book!
    Earn 1400 points - Win a third free book and earn an entry into our Grand Prize raffle!
    Earn 3200 points - Win a fourth free book and earn another entry into our Grand Prize raffle. All prizes are while supplies last.
