Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
We administer the CogAT test to 8th grade students near the begining of each school year."By measuring students’ learned reasoning and problem-solving abilities in the three areas most linked to success in school, CogAT reveals a valid, broad view of their talents. With this knowledge, educators can make decisions that elevate each student’s academic experience." (from the CogAT publishers).Get more information on reading your child's scores here. -
GMAS
End of Grade (EOG)
Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests are administered to all students in April or May, to assist in gauging student progress through the grade level. These affect student grades, grade-level promotion, and summer school attendance.
More information can be found on the Georgia Department of Education website.
End of Course (EOC)
Georgia Milestones End of Course tests are administered to 8th grade students in Carnegie Unit courses in May to gauge content knowledge for that course. Test scores affect student course grades and the acquisition of high school credit. Students who pass with a 70 or better in most courses receive high school credit. For Mathematics course, they are required to earn an 85 to be awarded credit.
More information can be found on the Georgia Department of Education website.

PSAT / NMSQT
We do not administer the Practice SAT (PSAT) at Summerour. However, as students approach the end of middle school or the beginning of high school, many students opt to begin taking this test in preparation for the actual SAT, a college entrance exam. If you or your student are interested, you can find more information at their website.

SPG / DDA
District Designed Assessments (DDA) and Student Performance Growth (SPG) tests are created at the county-level and administered to all students in almost all courses 3 times per term: pre-test, interim, and post-test. Between the two terms, then, students take these tests 6 times yearly.
The DDA are District Designed Assessments and used in core-academic courses (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English/Language Arts).
The SPG are administered in most Connection courses, including fine arts, technology, and foreign languages.
