Art Club
Grade Levels

Description
Come join art club where all artists bloom together! Art allows children the opportunity to use their imagination and critical thinking skills to solve visual challenges. Creative thinkers of today will be our leaders tomorrow! Students will build on skills and techniques that they learn in art class.
Process of Acceptance
Students will submit a piece of art and a letter of recommendation from their homeroom teacher. An art club application will go home with every fourth and fifth grade student.

Chorus

Description
Chorus meets 1 to 2 times a week in the mornings from 7:00-7:45 am. Members are expected to have excellent behavior and attendance. This club performs several times throughout the school year.
Acceptance Process
Students will be expected to sing an audition for Mrs. Lueke.

First Lego League Robotics Team

Description
The PES Robotics Team introduces 4th and 5th grade students to robotics with Mindstorms eV3 programming. Students will learn to design, program, and control functional robots to solve real world problems. Our challenge this year is called CITY SHAPER!
We are looking for members who display perseverance, problem solving skills, and the ability to take on multiple team roles.
Acceptance Process
Team selection through an application process took place in May. Congratulations to our new team members for the 2019-2020 school year! CITY SHAPER will begin in August!

Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in the RED Lab.

Fitness Club

Description
Fitness Club members will participate in a variety of fitness activities and games.
Acceptance Process
Students will fill out a permission slip and a lottery will be used if there are more applicants than the 40 available spots.

Jr. Beta Club

Description
To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership and service among elementary and secondary school students.
Acceptance Process
Students will be selected from current 4th and 5th grade students who had all A’s during the 2018-2019 school year.
Meeting Dates
Monthly beginning in September with an induction ceremony in late August.

Math Squad
Grade Levels

Description
The Math Squad provides opportunities for students to play math games and to compete against peers. Students will learn and practice mental math strategies, analytical skills, and good sportsmanship.
Acceptance Process
An application will be required for Math Squad, as there are limited spots available for competitions and tournaments.

Patrick Players

Kindergarden through 5th
Description
The “Patrick Players” is a Patrick Elementary School club for students who are currently taking formal music lessons from a music teacher, such as piano, guitar, violin, voice, etc. We meet several times a year to give students the opportunity to perform a piece of music they have learned during their lessons in front of supportive peers.
Acceptance Process
There are no auditions involved. Students must be involved in private lessons.

Twice in the fall and twice in the spring.

Reading Spots

Description
The Reading Spots Book Club is designed for students who love to read, and who are
reading on or above grade level. It is not designed to improve reading skills. Members of the club are required to read a selection of 15 books, selected at the county level, and prepare for a competition that is held each March. Competitors are required to know the books well enough to answer questions about them in a gameshow style competition against other elementary schools in the county. A team consisting of no more than 10 members will be selected to represent our school at the competition. The final team will be chosen based upon their performance on tests covering each book. Remaining book club members will engage in literature based activities designed around certain reading selections.Acceptance Process
The club is open to all 4th and 5th graders who enjoy reading. Ten students will be chosen to represent the team.
Meeting Dates
Every other week on Thursdays beginning in September and ending in March.

STEM Scouts

Desciption
Patrick STEM Scouts will explore science, technology, engineering and math through engaging hands-on activities. Students who participate in the club will have the opportunity to earn the BSA NOVA Award.
Acceptance Process
Parents will need to fill out an application.

Twice a month on Wednesdays from October to March at 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM.
