  • Robotics Club

    Description

    The Robotics Club is an exciting opportunity for third, fourth, and fifth grade students to build a strong STEM foundation with experiences that emphasize coding, critical thinking, innovation, collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and curiosity.

    Process of Acceptance

    Clubs are open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students, with each grade level having its own Robotics club. Parents/students will be asked to fill out an information form.

  • Design Thinking

    Design Thinking

    Description

    Design thinking is a club where students will use their STEM problem-solving skills. They will be given a problem to solve and materials to solve it. They will then go through the Design Thinking Process to design, build, test, and redesign their solution.

    Process of Acceptance

    The club is open to all 4th grade students. Parents/students are asked to fill out an information form.

    Description

    Patrick’s Student Council is a group of elected and/or volunteer students working together with an adult advisor within the framework of a constitution or bylaws to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, give opportunities for student experience in leadership, and promote effective understanding of the rights and responsibilities that are a part of being civically engaged.

    Goals:

    ● Promote school cluster engagement by increasing student involvement and school pride.

    ● To expose, develop, and apply the three foundational principles of citizenship in the United States; Rights, Responsibilities, and Respect.

    ● Promote leadership by developing not only leadership abilities with the youth of today, but also leadership for the community, state, and nation of tomorrow.

    ● Promote citizenship and civic engagement by providing training and experiences in the skills and techniques of good citizenship and leadership to prepare articulate citizens and leaders.

    Process of Acceptance

    Representatives will be elected within each homeroom.

    Description

    Come join art club where all artists bloom together! Art allows children the opportunity to use their imagination and critical thinking skills to solve visual challenges. Creative thinkers of today will be our leaders tomorrow! Students will build on skills and techniques that they learn in art class.

    Process of Acceptance

    Students will submit a piece of art and a letter of recommendation from their homeroom teacher. An art club application will go home with every fourth and fifth grade student.

    Description

    Chorus meets 1 to 2 times a week in the mornings from 7:00-7:45 am. Members are expected to have excellent behavior and attendance. This club performs several times throughout the school year.

    Students will be expected to sing an audition for Mrs. Lueke.

  • First Lego League Robotics Team

    First Lego League

    Description

    FIRST LEGO League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the 2020-2021 season, our Spot Bots will solve a real-world problem, build and develop coding skills to program robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® and SPIKE™ Prime technology, and complete a set of challenging missions. Our team operates under the FIRST LEGO League Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and gracious professionalism.

    Process of Acceptance

    Team selection is through an application process. Excellent teamwork and behavior is required. Students must be willing to do additional research and writing beyond the normal school day. 75% of our time in FLL is devoted to research about a problem, and the other 25% is devoted to coding robots to solve missions related to the problem.

    Meeting Dates

    Meetings will take place in both a digital and in-person format on Wednesday afternoons throughout October, November, and December. Digital Meetings at Home through Zoom from3:45-4:15 p.m. In-Person Meetings at PES in the Red Lab from 3:15-4:00 p.m.

    *Due to the teamwork and equipment required for this club, students that apply must be willing to commit to meeting in-person on Wednesdays in November and December.

    Description 

    To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among elementary and secondary school students. 

    Process of Acceptance 

    Students will be selected from current 4th and 5th grade students who had all A’s during the 2019-2020 school year.

    Monthly beginning in September with an induction ceremony in late August.

    Description

    The “Patrick Players” is a Patrick Elementary School club for students who are currently taking formal music lessons from a music teacher, such as piano, guitar, violin, voice, etc.  We meet several times a year to give students the opportunity to perform a piece of music they have learned during their lessons in front of supportive peers.  

    Process of Acceptance 

    There are no auditions involved.  Students must be involved in private lessons.

  • Reading Spots

    Reading Spots

    4th and 5th 

    Description

    The Reading Spots Book Club is designed for students who love to read, and who are
    reading on or above grade level. It is not designed to improve reading skills. Members of the club are required to read a selection of 15 books, selected at the county level, and prepare for a competition that is held each March. Competitors are required to know the books well enough to answer questions about them in a gameshow style competition against other elementary schools in the county. A team consisting of no more than 10 members will be selected to represent our school at the competition. The final team will be chosen based upon their performance on tests covering each book. Remaining book club members will engage in literature based activities designed around certain reading selections.

    Acceptance Process

    The club is open to all 4th and 5th graders who enjoy reading. Ten students will be chosen to represent the team.

    Every other week on Thursdays beginning in September and ending in February.

    Description

    Patrick STEM Scouts will explore science, technology, engineering, and math through engaging hands-on activities.  Students who participate in the club will have the opportunity to earn the BSA NOVA Award.

    Parents will need to fill out an application.

    2nd Grade: Twice a month on Wednesdays from October to March at 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM.
