Transition to Digital Learning for the week of January 19-22
CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks announced today that Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will temporarily transition all in-person learners to digital instruction beginning Tuesday, January 19. (Monday, January 18, is a school holiday.) District leaders will monitor the COVID situation and its effects on staffing to determine its ability to resume in-person instruction on Monday, January 25.
Students will be expected to complete their lessons digitally each day and attendance will be documented.
GCPS will offer meal service during this transition to digital learning (Jan. 19-22). Meals will be available for curbside pick-up at schools, and, the district will deliver meals along all bus routes countywide during this time. Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route.
For more information about the transition, visit the Gwinnett County Public Schools website
Parent Portal Updates
Meadowcreek Parents and Guardians,
For second semester, Gwinnett County Public Schools will again provide families with options regarding their instructional preference for their children. You may select in-person learning or digital learning.
Here are some things to consider as you make this decision:
• This decision will be for the entire semester. As students and families are more familiar with these two options and what they entail, the decisions families make will be for the entire second semester.
• Your child’s teacher and/or schedule may change. While schools will make efforts to keep students with the same teacher, adjustments may be needed to address families’ choices.
• Your decision is not final until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 15. Parents may access this survey via the Parent Portal to make a change at any time during the survey period.
• Parents can choose the option that best serves their individual children. A parent may select in-person for one child and digital learning for another, if they feel that is best for their family.
With this knowledge, please log into your Parent Portal account and complete the GCPS 2021 Spring Instructional Preference Questionnaire. Decisions must be made by November 15. If a family does not make a selection, your student(s) will continue with their current instructional model on Jan. 6, when we return to learning for the second semester.
Families that do not have a Parent Portal account can complete the Parent Portal Form. To verify your identity, you must return the completed form in person and show your ID. Due to Covid-19, we are also giving our parents a no-contact option. You can complete the form and take a clear photo of it and of your ID. Then, send both of these images to Ms. Salas at firstname.lastname@example.org
