Anderson-Livsey Media Center supports a variety of programs to encourage a love of reading, instill a habit of reading at home, and create a community of readers!
Each year we strive to bring amazing programs to each grade level to encourage reading and to support learning in the classroom.
We are currently evaluating the best way to host Book Fairs this year. Look out for updates so that students can purchase books of their very own!
Public Library Events
Anderson-Livsey is working closely with the local Public Library to bring fun and educational programs to the school and to encourage families to visit the library for other exciting events. Be sure to watch out for information home to find out when they will be happening!
Book Character Dress Up Day
Each year, in October, students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from a favorite book. On this special day we celebrate reading in a fun and creative way. Pictures are taken and shared on the scrolling announcements.
Read Across America Week Events
Each year we celebrate and encourage reading with a full week of fun activities that include:
- Themed Dress Up Days
- Guest Readers
- A variety of Contests, Quizzes, and Activities!
Our children are growing up in a world surrounded by technology. Most of our students use technology on a regular basis. At ALES, we are committed to helping our students learn digital citizenship skills in order to learn, communicate, and collaborate safely and responsibly. Digital citizenship skills are taught through classroom morning meetings, in Media lessons, and shared on the morning news.
We have had numerous guest readers come to our school to read to our students during various events and look forward to having more come in the future!
