Mrs. Winona Jones-Archie
I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Shiloh Elementary School.
I am honored to join this school, which is known for its long history and sustained culture of academic excellence. As I embark upon this great opportunity to serve, I am committed to help build upon the legacy of success. Most importantly, I am looking forward to working hard in collaboration with Mr. Trippany, the exceptional students, supportive parents, and dedicated staff to nurture the academic, social, and emotional development of each student.
I have over twenty-five years of vast K-5 educational experience in Gwinnett County Public Schools, Atlanta Public Schools and Dekalb County Public Schools collectively where I have worked as a classroom teacher, Early Intervention Teacher (EIP), and Instructional Specialist. My accomplishments include coaching mathematics teachers on content knowledge to effectively teach students for optimal results; facilitating professional development; creating parent engagement opportunities; and developing the whole student with a focus on excellence and success. In 2006, I was honored to be recognized as “Teacher of the Year” in DeKalb County Public Schools and received a House Resolution Commendation from Georgia Representative Randal Mangham for this honor.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Clark-Atlanta University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) from Central Michigan University, and a specialist degree in C&I from Lincoln Memorial University.
On a personal note, my husband, Harold, and I are the proud parents of two honor students, Miles and Mason. Miles is a senior at Tennessee State University; and Mason is an eighth grader at Five Forks Middle School. They are our pride and joy, and I am grateful to have them call me mom. I also have two canine daughters, Maddie and Marli. Rest assured that your children are in good hands as I will always keep their best interests at heart – just as I would for my own two children.
I am passionate, energetic, and love what I do! As we continue to encourage families to be partners in the educational process, please know that my door will always be open. As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” I am delighted to be part of this exceptional village. I am fully committed and dedicated to your/our children.
I look forward to getting to know all the wonderful students and families of Shiloh Elementary School.
I am extremely excited to be a member of this community.
Winona Jones-Archie, EdS
