Cindy Kinchen, Principal

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am Cindy Kinchen and I am excited to introduce myself as your new principal of Duluth Middle School. The Duluth community is near and dear to my heart and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the Wildcats!

After moving to Georgia from Miami, Florida in 2006, I took a job teaching students with special needs at Norcross High School. Soon thereafter, I became an Assistant Principal at Summerour Middle School and continued to serve the Norcross cluster for five years. When my daughters reached high-school age, I transitioned to Duluth High School, where I began the amazing journey of running the 9th grade academy for six years. In the fall of 2019, I was privileged to be on the opening administrative team of the brand new McClure Health Science High school until just a week ago, when I was called back home to Duluth as the principal of this wonderful middle school.

I am passionate about creating a positive culture of high expectations, in which students and teachers feel supported and empowered to do their best work every day. I feel confident that with your support, we will help all of our students exceed expectations and I look forward to our partnership. Please join me in monthly Saturday morning Coffee & Donuts chats. Our first one this past Saturday was wonderful and I hope to see many more of you at our next chat on March 7th from 9:00 a.m – 10:00 a.m.

I spent several days last week meeting teachers and students and was struck by the warmth and positivity that abounds at DMS. Those caring relationships, combined with high levels of rigorous, engaging instruction, and the support of attentive parents will ensure that our Wildcats leave us balanced and prepared for high school success. I can’t wait to get started.
