  • Attention Fifth Grade Parents: Information about Couch’s Summer Reading Program, the CMS 360 Challenge

To promote a love for reading and to foster valuable reading skills that are vital to academic success, Couch Middle School encourages all our students, including rising sixth graders, to read for at least 360 minutes this summer. Students are free to read whatever they choose (fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or magazines). Our goal is simply to keep students reading! Students who read and log at least 360 minutes will get to attend a CMS Reading Celebration in the fall and will qualify for prize drawings, including free books and the grand prize of a Kindle Fire tablet!

To complete the challenge, students should sign up for the Gwinnett County Public Library’s Summer Reading program. Students will use the public library’s Beanstack platform to record their minutes. As an added bonus, students who earn at least 480 points through logging reading minutes and completing activities on Beanstack will qualify for the Gwinnett Public Library’s prize drawings.

Fifth grade students at Starling are receiving information about the program through their homeroom teacher on eClass. This information includes genre-based lists of ebooks that can be checked out through the Gwinnett County Public Library, but these lists are suggestions only. The lists are also on the CMS website. You can find a list of resources for finding ebooks and how-to videos for using Beanstack on the website as well.

We hope you will encourage your child to participate in the CMS 360 Challenge. Thank you for your support of reading!

  • Families of 5th graders

Couch Middle School has put together a document with information and frequently asked questions in place of the parent meeting they usually have. Please take a look:

Also from Couch MS Fine Arts Departent: There are 3 music options at CMS. Within this document is a link to a sign up google form. They may sign up as soon as they have made a decision. Our department will sort the students and get them registered for the chosen classes.

  • Kindergarten Registration

The COVID-19 health situation will prevent us from holding our normal Kindergarten Registration. We will miss meeting our newest little Rams, but we will be ready and waiting for their arrival at school in August. In the meantime, parents can still register their Kindergartner online by visiting our registration page.
