  • Summer University At KSU

Calling all young artists, scientists, engineers, chefs, and creators! We’re excited to welcome you back to the KSU Center for in-person day camps in 2021. SummerU is the place to be for fun and exploration. Our innovative camps are all about discovery-an opportunity for kids in rising grades 1-12 to dive into the topics that really interest them. We’re bringing back all of your favorite camps, including Animal & Wildlife Expeditions, Adulting 101, Comic Book Art & Manga, Extreme Science, LEGOS, Photography, Robotics, cooking camps, and many more!

With over 100 unique camp experiences, we have plenty of hands-on fun for everyone. Campers can discover a new hobby, learn a cool life skill, or express their creativity in a friendly and supportive environment. Our instructors are experts in their fields (some are even college professors!) and enjoy helping kids create, explore, and excel. Get ready for summer fun at KSU! Click here to register!

  • MRC

Are you interested in public health or assisting in the current COVID-19 response? MRC GEM is the Medical Reserve Corps Georgia East Metro non-profit organization which responds to community health operations during large-scale emergencies, aiding in response to pressing health care needs, and improves community emergency preparedness. Here's information directly from their website with more details:

There is no minimum commitment. What we ask: that you will try to come help if called in an emergency. We provide all necessary training FREE.

Our members come from all walks of life, not just the medical and health professions.

We are not a military organization (though our name might sound like one). We are a top-to-bottom volunteer organization. We have no ranks per se and are happy for any member to step up and help run MRC GEM - just ask how you can help!

Our goals for our members are:

    1. Learn and practice how to be safe and secure in times of disaster.
    2. Learn to extend that safety and security to your loved ones.
    3. Learn and practice how to be safe when helping others.
    4. Learn and practice how to effectively help others.

If you achieve only the first of these goals, you are well on your way to becoming an empowered citizen instead of a victim who needs to be rescued.

Help yourself, your family, and your community prevent and deal with disasters - join MRC GEM!

No medical experience or training is needed. Everyone is welcome to join MRC GEM. Our members come from all walks of life, including the medical and health professions. There is no minimum commitment, though you must complete the basic training requirements to respond in an emergency.

Patient Care Technician Students at Emory John's Creek Hospital
  • Patient Care Technician - Emory John's Creek & Peachtree Urgent Care

Health Information Medical Front Office - Gwinnett, Newton, & Rockdale County Health Department

Students enrolled in Patient Care Technician and Health Information Medical Front Office courses will have the opportunity to participate in clinical activities through local community partners. By allowing students the opportunity to shadow and see real-world scenarios, we can enhance their level of education and allow them to gain hands-on experience. Students will be able to apply classroom-based learning in a clinical environment and build their skill set to enhance their knowledge base and build their resume. Experiences are unique to the shadowing location and individual assignments. Each student who earns a position in the clinical shadowing rotation will have the ability to interact with patients, engage in learning from health professionals, and explore various career choices in the healthcare field.

**Students must meet the criteria to be eligible for these opportunities. Please refer to the expectations page for more information about these requirements.
