Mentoring of Hispanic Girls
The Power of One
The Community-Based Mentoring Program began to serve Hispanic Boys and Girls in 2019 with 65 middle school students. We believe in the impact one caring adult mentor can have on a child's life and aim to empower our students via events, conferences, workshops, field trips, and summer camps. Our initial cohort of students are now in high school. The focus for our middle school students will continue to be STEAM, Literacy, and Cultural Awareness (which includes Social and Emotional Learning). Our high school students will focus on entrepreneurship, licensed professionals, and college. We look forward to serving our students and community and encourage you to join us!
Nury Castillo Crawford, Director
Nury has been part of the GCPS family since 2006. She began in our local schools first as a teacher, then assistant principal prior to moving her passion and love for supporting students to her current district level role. She is originally from Peru and is proud to be equally proficient in Spanish. Nury is dedicated to the community and invites the community to connect in order to support our students to reach their full potential.
