GCPS School Nurses

  • A County School Nurse is assigned to each local school to provide consultation and training on health-related issues for all students in both general and special education. County School Nurses assist in the development of health management plans for students with chronic health care conditions such as allergies, asthma, epilepsy, and diabetes, along with many others. County School Nurses also provide training for staff on a wide variety of health care conditions and procedures as needed in order for children to attend school, and are available for consultation during all regular school hours. They frequently serve as part of Student Support Teams, Individualized Accommodations Plan teams and Individualized Education Plan teams. County School Nurses work closely with school clinic staff in the provision of student health services.
