• Internship and Practicum

    Thank you for your interest in completing your school counseling internship in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). GCPS is committed to providing superior training and support to all persons who work or train within our World Class System of Schools. GCPS will only accept candidates who are seeking a Master's degree or Specialist degree in School Counseling and attending CACREP programs with which GCPS has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)*. GCPS has established an MOU for School Counseling with the following universities: Albany State University, Capella University, Mercer University, Georgia State University, University of Georgia, University of West Georgia, and Walden University. If you attend a university that is CACREP accredited but does not currently have an established MOU with GCPS, please contact Dr. Heather Alvira.

    * We only place internship candidates with start dates of August thru January. We do not place internship candidates beginning their internship during spring or summer quarters.

    The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) is the professional accrediting agency for school counselors  in Georgia. The GaPSC also maintains a list of Georgia institutions that offer accredited school counseling programs.
