• Rising 9th Grade Information

    Welcome, Class of 2025!

    Important Information about Carnegie Units:

Families will coordnate with the middle school to process the documentation for accepting/declining Carnegie Units for high school classes taken during 8th grade.

Please review this video message from Dr. Childs regarding items to consider and read this Carnegie Unit Information as you make your decision.

As of Tuesday, March 2, we are now in the Course Approvals and Change Request Process.

Course Approvals and Change Requests: For the 2021-2022 school year, verification of course requests will be completed digitally. Families should review the document under Course Request in My StudentVue for Students and under Documents in ParentVUE for Parents. We need to hear from each of our students for next year!

PLEASE REVIEW THE COURSE REQUEST CAREFULLY because we schedule for the entire year and changes become harder to make later in the process.  AP CLASSES CANNOT BE DROPPED after May 2021. Additionally, there are placeholders used (detailed below) so if there is a class that you don't recognize, it may be a placeholder for another class or program.

Once you have reviewed your course requests, you will need to complete a brief Google Form using this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfm_fTdGhQW-GaRvrfVRmfZ83zoLxxWBpvsZGFV0RK4D9I4wQ/viewform

You will either confirm that the requests are correct or make change request(s).  If you are interested in taking classes digitally for next year, this is something that you can note on the form as well. Students with more than 12 course requests listed, need to let us know which class(es) to drop or we will select for you. If your request appears incomplete, please let us know that as well.

For the best chance of receiving your requested change(s), please complete the Google Form as soon as possible. If space is available in the course you are requesting and you meet the prerequisite(s) for the course, we will make every effort to accommodate the requested change. We will continue to accept forms through SUNDAY, MARCH 7th, 2021. However, courses may fill up before this time.

If you are requesting a level change or course change that the course teacher did not recommend, please note that this form will serve as a course waiver. This waiver includes the understanding that NO SCHEDULE CHANGES will be made until the following semester or following year, depending on the specific course. You take responsibility for helping your student be successful in this class.

Thank you in advance for your help with this very important process. We look forward to a great 2021-2022 school year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out via email but be patient as I work through the volume of communication requests.  Email is the best way to communicate your questions about this process.

    Thank you,

    Dr. Heather Childs

Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction

    Examples of Placeholders used:

Courses ending in CR - indicate the RISE Program

Courses ending in GVS - indicate Hybrid/Digital classes

LA PLACEHOLDER - Hybrid/Digital Critical Literacy

MA PLACEHOLDER - indicates a S2 Math class offered in S1

GENERAL PE - Specialized Weight Training class for athletes

We are excited to have you join us at Collins Hill!  Please view the video embedded below to find out how the Registration process will work for this year.  Then, read through the 9th Grade Transition Guide with your family.  After you have a feel for how the process will work, explore the options for classes that you can select for the 2021-2022 school year.  Some classes will be selected for you, based upon your class performance and teacher recommendations.  You will be able to pick 4 elective choices to fill the two elective spots that most students will have.
