General Camp Information:
First day drop-off will be at the front of the building and students will meet in the cafeteria for a welcome announcement. All following days, students will need to be dropped off in the car rider lane, entrance off of West Price Road. Parents may drop students off starting at 8:50 a.m. Pick-up will begin at 12:00 noon. Information concerning pickup locations will come at a later date.
All students will participate in the Ice Breaker session each day. Students will be enrolled in three additional classes. When you register online at www. MyPaymentsPlus.com, you will be prompted to select five classes. We will try to ensure that you get three of your five choices. Although we try to accommodate everyone, we cannot make this guarantee for students who register after May 19, 2021. You will select from the following courses and receive your schedule on the first day of camp.
CAMP CLASS CHOICES:
All students participate in this opening activity. Students will be introduced to a variety of games and activities geared toward team-building and meeting new friends.
Learn how to think like a real Crime Scene Investigator! Students will conduct investigations using science experiments to solve real-life mysteries just like the experts.
Addicted to your iPhone? No worries! Let us hang out with technology during our EdTech Summer Camp Session! You will be introduced to each of the tech classes offered here at NGMS, play fun games, and learn strategies to keep up with all of your classes. Whether you're a tech guru or new to it all, you'll gain a ton of new tools through our summer camp.
Do you like to eat? Come and explore Earth Science through “hands-on” edible activities. Candy bars and Little Debbie snacks are just a few of the ingredients used to create some yummy science fun. (Not for students with food allergies/sensitivities.)
Race against the clock to crack codes, discover clues, and solve puzzles before time runs out! Let the adventure begin as you work with other students to ESCAPE the “room.”
Love Harry Potter? Then Harry Potter camp is for you! We will have discussions about our favorite characters, make Harry Potter crafts, play Harry Potter games, and maybe even try some butterbeer!
This class is a great introduction to all of the fun we have at North Gwinnett in chorus, orchestra, guitar, and band! Students will have the opportunity to learn about the basics of music as well as the awesome music class offerings at NGMS. Whether you are new to music or a seasoned pro, come be a part of the Bulldog Music Family!
Want to know how to get around NGMS? In this class, students use real-world map skills to help them navigate the hallways of North Gwinnett Middle school. In addition to finding their way around the school, students will go on an epic scavenger hunt that helps familiarize them with the most important locations in our school.
Do you have a head full of useless and useful information? Do you have an agile thumb from all those video games? Do you love to compete (and win) against other schools? Come and see what NGMS Quiz Bowl is all about! We have many fun and exciting games and activities planned to test your knowledge and reflexes!
Sports and Games:
Come learn about some of NGMS’s favorite games and team sports! Teamwork, fun, and sportsmanship are just some of the skills you will learn while accomplishing goals and participating in recreational games. Play Ball!
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math! We know that 21st-century careers will require STEAM skills. Problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills are all combined with collaborative problem-based scenarios in which students must work together to achieve success. Come put your 21st century STEAM career skills to great use!
Do you think you can survive a trek through the desert or a blistering snowstorm? Put your critical thinking skills to the test by developing team-building skills that will help you navigate the toughest scenarios.
Here is an opportunity to get in touch with your creative side! Unleash your inner Picasso with this fun introduction to a variety of art techniques. Participants will also make and take home their very own souvenir artwork!
