The Department of Information Security Program Governance coordinates information security activities throughout the organization—promoting a culture in which expected cybersecurity behaviors are embedded in the day-to-day activities of each employee. The department manages the school district’s Cybersecurity Awareness and Education program, providing employees with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to remain cyber-savvy while at work and at home. The department also offers support for risk management, supply chain management, and program management business processes.
Arden Peterkin is the Information Security Officer of Gwinnett County Public Schools. In his role, Arden is responsible for the successful execution of an information security program strategy that is aligned with the vision, mission, goals, and strategic initiatives, and priorities of the school district.
The Department of Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Management protects and maintains the confidentiality and integrity of the information entrusted to us by students, families, and employees and ensures the availability of GCPS’ technology resources. The department uses industry-recognized best practices to respond to incidents, employing technology and managing partnerships to secure data and systems.
