                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   To earn the full incentive for the designated position, you must:  

    • Shine in GCPSBe a new teacher hired to GCPS for the 2022-23 school year; OR
    • Be a full-time teacher hired for the 2022-23 school year and taught in GCPS prior to the 2019-20 school year. 
      • A teacher would not be eligible to receive the incentive if they are a former employee who has worked in the district as a teacher within the last three school years. (2019-20, 2020-21,2021-22)
    • Complete the 2022-23 school year and
    • Sign a contract for the 2023-24 school year.
    • Incentive amount will be determined based upon the employee's start date.
    • *A new teacher for the 2022-23 school year is eligible to receive one incentive. An exception would be a teacher who qualifies for an incentive and meets the criteria for the bilingual incentive as well. In this case, both incentives will be awarded. 
    • If a teacher qualifies for more than one incentive, (not including bilingual) the incentive with the highest dollar amount will be awarded. 
    • Teacher may elect to receive a lump sum payment. In exchange for this hiring incentive, the GCPS teacher agrees to teach in GCPS for a minimum of three (3) school years.
    •  The GCPS teacher will be provided the one-time lump sum payment after September 30, 2022. The GCPS Teacher will not receive or will be required to repay GCPS the established hiring incentive under the following circumstances

    a.     Failure to sign a teaching contract for a GCPS teaching position,
    b.     Terminated/released prior starting the teaching position,
    c.     New information is provided that would disqualify from being hired,  and/or  
    d.     GCPS Teacher fails to report to work.

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

    Additional information and a selection form will be sent to new teachers who qualify for the incentive in August 2022.

  • Special Education Teacher Incentive (Severe): $6,000

    (Special Education Programs - ASD-I, ASD-II, ASD-III, DHH, EBD, OI, VI, SID/PID, MOID)

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Six-Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) for teaching one (1) full school year (2022-2023) in a special education classroom in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024) in a special education classroom. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    Incremental Payment - Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: (30 days after start date) $ 3,000.00 
       December 2022 check: $ 2,000.00
      

    Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year: (August 2023 check)

                                                               OR

    $ 1,000.00

    Lump Sum Payment - processed after working 60 days, plus three (3) year teaching commitment to GCPS

    $6,000.00

    Incremental Payment Criteria:

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    Lump Sum Payment Criteria:

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

     

  • Special Education Teacher Incentive (Mild): $5,000

    (Special Education Programs - IRR, SLD, SDD, Mild ID, ASD-IV, Pre-K)

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Five-Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for teaching one full school year (2022-2023) in a special education classroom in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024) in a special education classroom. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $ 3,000.00
      December 2022 check: $ 1,000.00
       Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year: $ 1,000.00

    Incremental Payment Criteria:

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    Lump Sum Payment Criteria:

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

  • Speech Language Pathology Incentive: $6,000

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Six -Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) for serving 1 full school year (2022-2023) as a Speech Language Pathologist in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year (2023-2024) as a Speech Language Pathologist. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $ 3,000.00
       December 2022 check: $ 2,000.00
       Upon signing contract for the 2023-24 School Year: $ 1,000.00

  • Math/Science Teacher Incentive: $4,000

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Four-Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) for teaching 1 full school year (2022-2023) in a Math or Science classroom in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024) in a Math or Science classroom. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $ 2,000.00
       December 2022 check: $ 1,000.00
       Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year: $ 1,000.00

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

  • Computer Science/Engineering Teacher Incentive: $4,000

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Four-Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) for teaching 1 full school year (2022-2023) in a Computer Science or Engineering classroom in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024) in a Computer Science or Engineering classroom. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

        

    Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $ 2,000.00
       December 2022 check: $ 1,000.00
       Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year: $ 1,000.00

    Lump Sum Payment - processed after working 60 days, plus three (3) year teaching commitment to GCPS $ 4,000.00

    Incremental Payment Criteria:

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    Lump Sum Payment Criteria:

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

  • Bilingual Teacher Incentive: $4,000

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Four-Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) for showing demonstrated proficiency in the following languages:  Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese or Korean, teaching one (1) full school year (2022-2023) in any subject field in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024) as a teacher. Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $ 2,000
       August 2023: $ 1,000
       Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year: $ 1,000
                                                                 

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    To be eligible, bilingual teachers also must meet ONE of the following requirements:

    • Take & pass the GACE (Spanish & French), OR
    • Hold certification (Spanish & French), OR
    • Take and Pass both OPI (LTI Oral Proficiency Interview) & WPT French & Spanish – Advanced Low
    • Korean, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese – Intermediate High
    • GACE and OPI/WPT testing must be completed by December 31, 2022

  • General Title I Teacher Incentive: $4,000.00

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Four-Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) for all other teaching categories not already recognized in other incentive initiatives in Title I schools such as:

     

    • Elementary Education (Grades K – 5)
    • Middle Grades Education (Grades 6 – 8), Language Arts
    • Middle Grade Education (Grades 6 – 8), Social Studies
    • Secondary Education (Grades 9 – 12), English
    • Secondary Education (Grades 9 -12), All Social Studies fields
    • ESOL
    • Health and PE
    • Music Education, All fields
    • Visual Arts
    • Drama
    • Career & Technical Education

     

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive for teaching 1 full school year (2022-2023) in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024). Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

     

    • Thirty days after the start of the 2022-23 School Year: $  2,000.00
    • December 2022 check:                                                 $  1,000.00
    • Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year:           $  1,000.00

                                                         OR

    Lump Sum Payment - processed after working 60 days, plus three (3) year teaching commitment to GCPS

     - $ 4,000.00 

    Incremental Payment Criteria:

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    Lump Sum Payment Criteria:

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

  • General Teacher Incentive: $3,000.00

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive in the amount of Three-Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) for all other teaching categories not already recognized in other incentive initiatives in Non-Title I schools such as:

     

    • Elementary Education (Grades K – 5)
    • Middle Grades Education (Grades 6 – 8), Language Arts
    • Middle Grade Education (Grades 6 – 8), Social Studies
    • Secondary Education (Grades 9 – 12), English
    • Secondary Education (Grades 9 -12), All Social Studies fields
    • ESOL
    • Health and PE
    • Music Education, All fields
    • Visual Arts
    • Drama
    • Career & Technical Education
    • Business Education

     

    The Employee shall be paid an incentive for teaching 1 full school year (2022-2023) in Gwinnett County Public Schools and signing a contract for a second year of teaching (2023-2024). Employee will receive the bonus on the schedule noted below less applicable withholdings and deductions:

    • December 2022 check:                                                 $  1,000.00
    • Upon signing contract for 2023-24 School Year:           $  1,000.00

          Lump Sum Payment:  Lump Sum Payment - processed after working 60 days, plus three (3) year teaching commitment to GCPS - $3,000.00

    Incremental Payment Criteria:

    It is understood that in the event that the Employee is terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, or in the event that the Employee resigns not for Good Reason prior to the one (1)-year anniversary of the Start Date, the Employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to Employee no later than thirty (30) days following the date of termination or resignation.

    Lump Sum Payment Criteria:

    The GCPS Teacher understands that in the event the GCPS Teacher resigns without mutual agreement prior to completing the three-year teaching agreement, the GCPS Teacher will be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid no later than thirty (30) days following the date of separation.

    Important Note: Should the employee be terminated by Gwinnett County Public Schools for Cause prior to the one-year anniversary of the start date, or in the event that the employee resigns prior to the one-year anniversary of the start date without an approved reason (family move, illness, etc.), the employee may be obligated to repay Gwinnett County Public Schools the amount of such incentive previously paid to employee no later than 30 days following the date of termination or resignation.
