    FOSTER CHILDREN AND YOUTH HAVE THE RIGHT TO A FREE AND APPROPRIATE PUBLIC EDUCATION


    If your child is in Foster Care, then the child has the right to:

    • Be immediately enrolled in and attend school without vital documents available
    • Maintain enrollment at the school the child attended before coming to your foster home (school of origin) if it is determined to be in their best interest
    • Be enrolled at the school your foster home is zoned for
    • Receive transportation to and from school when feasible
    • Have a Case Management Consultation Meeting (CMC) within 5 days of enrollment
    • Participate in school-related activities and receive free school meals
    • Utilize the dispute resolution process if you have a grievance
