Orchestra is an academic class in which students are also required to participate in outside-of-class activities and performances. Orchestra students are required to perform publicly as a part of the grade for the course. The emphasis of orchestral instruction is basic musicianship, technique, and performance practices. Orchestra students perform in two formal concerts each semester. Additional performances include GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), PTSA Fine Arts Night, fall and spring honors celebrations, community events, and optional out-of-state/in-state performance competitions.
