ParentSquare Tips for Parents and Guardians

  • Activate your Account

    There are three options for activating your account. Please scroll down to view these options. 


    Option 1:
    Parents with a Parent Portal account can activate via Parent Portal.  

    1. Once logged into the Parent Portal, open ParentVUE.

    2. Once ParentVUE has opened, select the ParentSquare tab in the left-hand toolbar and select Open ParentSquare

    3. When you click on the Open ParentSquare link the first time, you will receive a message to confirm your account.

    Option 2:
    Parents with a Parent Portal account can activate via ParentSquare directly. 
     

    1. Parents can go directly to ParentSquare.com (or via the app) and enter a phone number or email address. If an email address is entered, the following message will appear.

    2. Within the email, you will be prompted to reset your password. Select the Reset Password button.


    3. Enter your desired password and select Update Password


    Please note: Parents will not receive an email from ParentSquare if the email address they entered is not the same address they use for the Parent Portal at the time of Online Registration.  You will need to contact your local school to update the email address they have on record.  Any changes will appear in ParentSquare the next day.  


    Option 3:
    Parents without a Parent Portal account can activate via ParentSquare directly. 

    1. Parents can go directly to ParentSquare.com (or via the app) and enter a phone number or email address. If an email address is entered, the following message will appear.

    2. If the email address is a valid email address loaded into ParentSquare from our student information system, you will receive the following email.

    3. Within the email, select the Activate your account button. A new window will open for you to create a new account.

    Please note: Parents will not receive an email from ParentSquare if the email address they entered is not the same address they use for the Parent Portal at the time of Online Registration.  You will need to contact your local school to update the email address they have on record.  Any changes will appear in ParentSquare the next day.  

  • Navigating Multiple Children in ParentSquare

    If you have more than one child in Gwinnett County Public Schools, see the directions below on how to navigate to their announcements in ParentSquare. 

    In the ParentSquare App

    1) The current school view will appear at the top of your homepage. To switch schools, select the three lines in the top left corner of your screen.

    2) Then select the Schools icon in the left hand menu and then the desired school you would like to view.

    3) To navigate announcements from different classes at the same school or if you have multiple children at the same school, you can also customize your feed to those classes as well. After selecting the three lines in the top left corner on the homepage, select Classes in the left hand menu. Then select the desired class.

    On the ParentSquare Site

    1) The current school view will appear at the top of your homepage in ParentSquare. To change schools, select the dropdown arrow next to Switch School in the top left on the site. Select your desired school from the list that populates. Your feed will then show announcements and posts from that school.

    2) To navigate announcements from different classes at the same school or if you have multiple children at the same school, you can also customize your feed to those classes as well. Select the drop-down arrow on the upper right side of the homepage next to My School, Classes, and Groups. Then select the desired class that populates.

  • Download the App

    QR codes for app download in the iOS App and Google Play store.

  • Set Preferences

    Check out our Customize your ParentSquare Experience page to set your notification settings and preferred language. 

  • Get Photos and Files

    In the app, select More and then select Media to see photos and files shared with you.

  • Appreciate Posts

    In the app, click Appreciate or the heart icon within your email/app or website to thank a teacher or staff member for a post.

    On the website, click on Appreciate in the bottom left corner of the message.

  • Comment or Reply

    In the app, click ‘Comment’ to privately ask a question about the post that your teacher or school sent.

    On the website, select Comment in the bottom left corner of the message. After you have entered your comment in the box that appears, select the green comment button.

  • View your Messages

    In the app, select Messages at the bottom of the screen.

    On the ParentSquare website, click ‘Messages’ in the sidebar to privately get in touch with staff and teachers.
