Mrs. Tanya England

Back in the fall of 1997, I graduated from the University of Georgia. I've been teaching for 22 years and counting. During the course of my educational adventure, I've had the pleasure of being a 5th, 1st, and 3rd grade classroom teacher. In 2010, I happily joined the Specials team to become a K-5 STEM teacher which I continue to enjoy with the exception of a brief shift as an instructional support teacher during the 2020-2021 school year. Outside of my normal classes, I have experienced running many science clubs including: Earth Patrol, Science Olympiad, Chess Club, The Garden Club, STEM club, Coding club, and Video Design Club. In addition to my classroom duties, I have had the honor of serving as grade chair, TOTY, District Science Trainer through Fernbank, and as a Science Curator for Gwinnett County for two years. I am currently working towards a masters degree in Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia. During my free time I enjoy tinkering on the computer, gardening, and playing with my menagerie of scaly and furry animals.

I received my B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from Georgia College and State University and my M.A. in Art History and Visual Studies from the University of Kentucky. I also studied Art Education at the University of Georgia. My goal is to inspire my students through the arts and to provide a creative outlet for them to express themselves. I love spending time with my husband, two daughters, and our dog. I also enjoy gardening - and making art, of course! I am so proud to be part of the Nesbit team.
