2026 Area Board and Town Hall Meetings

Attendees joined their Board of Education representative and helped warmly welcome the new superintendent, Dr. Alexandra Estrella. The event offered a valuable chance to get to know Dr. Estrella, as she shared her background, vision, and leadership experience with the community.

Recordings of the meetings are on each District Area Board Meeting page, the Board of Education Meeting Archive page, and through the GCPS TV app. 

They have been carefully reviewed and grouped into the following categories:
   

• Strategic Direction and System Alignment – These questions are about how the district works as a whole. Questions include ones about the long-term strategy of the district, system coherence, accountability frameworks, cross-department alignment, and an overall question of how initiatives fit together.   

• Leadership, Trust, and Governance – These questions are about the incoming superintendent, her leadership qualifications, governance roles, transparency, accountability, organizational structure, and decision-making authority.   

• Educator Conditions, Pay, and Retention – These questions are about teacher and staff compensation, salary schedules, planning time, and workload. These questions reflect concern about the sustainability of the educator workforce in GCPS and whether current structures meaningfully support recruitment, retention, and professional well-being across all roles.   

• Academic Rigor and Instructional Coherence – These questions are about whether GCPS has a coherent, effective instructional system that balances academic rigor with student well-being, equity, and real-world readiness.  

• Family, Student, and Community Engagement – These questions reflect a strong desire for GCPS to operate as a listening, transparent, and collaborative system that meaningfully includes students, families, and community partners as co-contributors to student success.   

• Program Supports – These questions are about how consistently and equitably GCPS serves a large and diverse population of students who require differentiated supports – including multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and students receiving gifted services.  

• Student Behavior, Discipline, and Safety – These questions are about the clarity, consistency, and efficacy of the approach to behavior management and school safety.  

• Operations, Facilities, and Resource Allocation – These questions are about how well GCPS is managing its physical resources, facilities, and financial assets, and whether they are doing so in a way that is efficient, equitable, transparent, and aligned with student needs.
