Work Session (2:00 p.m.)
1.01 Student Discipline Update
Eric Thigpen, Executive Director of Academic Support; Grady Caldwell, Director of Behavior Support and Interventions; and Kimberly Bussey, Principal of Dacula Middle School, will provide an update on the student discipline data for the 2024-2025 school year.
1.02 Student Attendance Update
Dr. Jewelle Harmon, Chief Accountability Officer, Jay Nebel, Interim Chief of Schools, Dr. Tinisha Parker, Executive Director of Student Services, and Crystal Baskerville, Director of Health and Social Services, will provide an overview of GCPS student attendance, to include historical data, an update on student attendance data, supports, and interventions from the 2024-2025 school year, and a preview of continued measures/next steps.

- 2.01 Human Resources Report
- Cathy Hardin, Chief Human Resources Officer, updated the Board on current information related to the staffing needs of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
- 2.02 Monthly Financial Update
- Masana Mailliard, Chief Financial Officer, provided a monthly financial update.
- 2.03 Legislative and Policy Update
- Jorge Gomez, Chief of Staff, and Dr. David Goldie, Legislative and Educational Policy Administrator, will update the Board on changes that have been made in accordance with policy and/or mandates in state and/or federal law.
- Policy EG - Risk Management & Insurance
- Policy IFBG - Responsible Use of Technology and Electronic Media
- Policy KBA - Open Records
- In addition, an update was provided regarding GA Senate Bill 63 (SB63) - Homeschooled Students.
- Jorge Gomez, Chief of Staff, and Dr. David Goldie, Legislative and Educational Policy Administrator, will update the Board on changes that have been made in accordance with policy and/or mandates in state and/or federal law.
2.04 – 2.05 Governance Team Communications
During the time designated for Governance Team communications the Board of Education asked questions about items on the business meeting agenda that evening (2.04), and Dr. Taylor shared anticipated presentations for the next board meeting (2.05). The Board suggested that only one presentation be made in the August work session to allow time for questions from each board member, and then the board voted to move the meeting into Executive Session.

Monthly Superintendent Reports on Human Resources, Monthly Financial Report, and the 2022-2027 Building and Construction Report were presented to the board for approval or as informational items. The Board also voted to uphold student discipline decisions made in executive session.
Old Business
The board approved three policies that had been lying on the table for public comments:

- Policy IFBG - Responsible Use of Technology and Electronic Media
- Policy KBA - Open Records
New Business
The board voted to adopt the resources for Sports Medicine (CTAE) & Principles of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine (Health/PE) Instructional Resource Adoption: Fundamentals of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine.
Public Comments
Four students and six citizens signed up to address the board during public comment periods.

Time is designated at the end of the business meeting for Governance Team comments from the board members and superintendent.
