Work Session (2:00 p.m.)
1.01 Milestones Data SY2025 Update
Dr. Jewelle Harmon, Chief Accountability Officer, DeNelle West, Chief Learning Officer, and Jay Nebel, Interim Chief of Schools, presented the Milestones results for the 2024-2025 school year.
2.01 Human Resources Report
Cathy Hardin, Chief Human Resources Officer, updated the Board on current information related to the staffing needs of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
2.02 Monthly Financial Update
Masana Mailliard, Chief Financial Officer, provided a monthly financial update.
2.03 Legislative and Policy Update
Jorge Gomez, Chief of Staff, and Dr. David Goldie, Legislative and Educational Policy Administrator, provided the Board an update on on changes that have been made in accordance with policy and/or mandates in state and/or federal law.

2.04 Transition Plan Update
Interim Superintendent Dr. Al Taylor will provide an update on the Transition Plan.
2.04 – 2.05 Governance Team Communications
During the time designated for Governance Team communications, Dr. Taylor shared anticipated presentations for the next board meeting (2.05). Dr. Simmons provided an update on the Superintendent Search, and then the board meeting went into Executive Session.

- 4.07 Approval of Minutes for Monthly Board Meeting held on July 17, 2025
Monthly Superintendent Reports on Human Resources, Monthly Financial Report, and the 2022-2027 Building and Construction Report were presented to the board for approval or as informational items. The Board also voted to uphold student discipline decisions made in executive session.
Leadership Appointments:
- Ms. Angela C. Bentley - Division of Human Resources - Executive Director of Employee Services - Effective 09/29/2025. Ms. Angela Bentley is recommended to be appointed Executive Director of Employee Services in the Division of Human Resources. Ms. Bentley currently serves as Director of Total Rewards at GoHealth Urgent Care, Atlanta.
- Mr. Jeremiah "Jeremy" M. Reily - Mary Kay Murphy Middle – Principal - Effective 01/02/2026. Mr. Jeremy Reily is transferring as Principal at Bay Creek Middle to Principal at Mary Kay Murphy Middle.
Student Discipline
The Board voted to uphold student discipline decisions made in executive session.
7.01 – 7.03 New Business
The board voted to place the policy revisions for Policy JCD - Student Conduct Behavior Code on the table for review until September 18, 2025, Monthly Meeting, they approved the proposed Board/Superintendent Team Development and Training plan for 2025-2026, and they authorized all Board members to represent the Board at the 2025 GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference in Atlanta, December 3-5, 2025.
Public Comments
Six students and seventeen citizens signed up to address the board during public comment periods.
Governance Team Comments
Time is designated at the end of the business meeting for Governance Team comments from the board members and superintendent.
