As Board members, we appreciate your comments, concerns, and suggestions for improvement and will consider your feedback as the Board makes policy and governance decisions.


Dr. Mary Kay Murphy took office in January 1997. Her electoral district includes all or part of the Collins Hill, Duluth, Lanier, Norcross, North Gwinnett, and Peachtree Ridge clusters, as well as GIVE Center West, New Life Academy of Excellence in Duluth, North Metro Academy of Performing Arts, Phoenix High School @ Sugarloaf Mills, and the Buice Center which includes the ADAPT, STRIVE, and BRIDGE programs. In 2019, she completed her professional career in college and university Institutional Advancement with 40 years of service at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, Oglethorpe University, Morris Brown College, and Morehouse School of Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Education Administration; an M.Ed. in English and Education from Emory University; and a BA in English and Philosophy from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. Re-elected in 2020, her term runs through December 2024.
