The Gwinnett County Board of Education (BOE) today released the Superintendent/CEO Job Prospectus, a comprehensive, community-centered profile outlining the qualities, priorities, and expectations for the next leader of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). The prospectus reflects insights gathered through an extensive engagement process across all five Board districts.

Since launching the search in spring 2025, the Board has reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and inclusive process, rooted in GCPS' belief that students are the center of every decision. More than 3,000 survey responses and feedback from 63 community engagement meetings—including student panels, school-based focus groups, parent and community conversations, and partner sessions—helped shape the profile of the Superintendent GCPS is seeking.

"Our community has been clear about the kind of leader they expect and deserve," said Dr. Adrienne Simmons, Board Chair. “The next Superintendent must be student-centered, committed to excellence, and deeply aligned with the values of our diverse and dynamic county. We are grateful to every student, family, staff member, and community partner who contributed their voice to this important work."

The prospectus outlines the leadership characteristics most valued by GCPS stakeholders, including:

  • A commitment to equitable access and student success, ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and prepared for future opportunities.
  • Strong communication and transparent decision-making, reinforcing trust and strengthening relationships across the district.
  • Ability to steward resources responsibly and advance long-term sustainability.
  • Experience leading in large, diverse school systems with demonstrated success improving outcomes for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and historically marginalized groups.
  • Capacity to unify and inspire a district of nearly 179,000 students and more than 24,000 employees.

Stakeholders also lifted key themes—including clear communication, retention and workforce support, leadership stability, and the need for equitable opportunities and consistent high expectations for all students—that are reflected throughout the prospectus.

"We heard a deep pride in GCPS' strengths—our caring educators, our diverse community, and our wide range of academic pathways," said Dr. Tarece Johnson-Morgan, Vice Chair. “We also heard a call for continued progress. Our next leader must embrace innovation, deepen belonging, and advance world-class learning for every student."
