Gwinnett County Public Schools Superintendent/CEO Search

In 2025 the Gwinnett County Board of Education (BOE) launched a national search for the next Superintendent/CEO of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS)—a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who will champion student success and build on the district’s progress.
At a special called meeting on March 25, 2026 the Gwinnett County Board of Education unanimously approved Dr. Alexandra Estrella as the next Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools. Dr. Estrella will begin serving as our Superintendent in July. Additional details about Dr. Estrella and the hiring process are available below.
Gwinnett County Board of Education
The Board of Education is leading a transparent and inclusive search process focused on excellence. In May 2025, the BOE selected Alma Advisory Group (“Alma”) to conduct a national search for the next superintendent of GCPS.
As the first step in the process, the BOE will work with Alma to engage students, families, staff, and the community in August and September 2025 to develop a candidate profile. This profile will identify the characteristics, skills, and experience needed by the next superintendent of GCPS to address the district’s needs and priorities.
This page will be continuously updated with the latest search progress, events, and information.
