It’s a one-cent sales tax on things people buy in Gwinnett County that supports the capital needs of the school system, including renewal of existing schools, new classrooms, technology, buses, safety systems, and more.
E-SPLOST continues an existing tax.
E-SPLOST has been in place in Gwinnett County since 1997. In November, voters approved the continuation of the existing one-cent tax to support the GCPS Capital Plan.
E-SPLOST supports our Capital Plan.
The sales tax helps build new schools and additional classrooms, repair roofs and HVAC systems, upgrade playgrounds, and purchase buses, computers, and textbooks. By using E-SPLOST funding, other revenue resources are not diverted from teaching and learning.

With voter approval of E-SPLOST, all clusters will see improvements, including additions, renovations, safety upgrades, and technology enhancements. Every GCPS school will benefit from at least one capital project.

The one-cent sales tax can help keep property taxes lower by providing the revenue for capital projects. Even visitors who shop, eat, and recreate in Gwinnett County but do not live in our county help support our students and schools.
E-SPLOST was approved by voters on November 4, 2025.
In November 2025, Gwinnett County registered voters approved the continuation of E-SPLOST with 69.5% support. This approval allows the existing one-cent sales tax to continue funding school capital needs across the district.
