GCPS Districtwide Family Advisory Council

The GCPS Family Advisory Council (FAC) brings together parent representatives from across the district to partner with GCPS leaders on topics that impact our students and schools.

Purpose

The FAC will elevate parent/guardian/caregiver voice in district decision-making with a focus on:

  • Academic programs and curriculum
  • School climate, safety, and wellness
  • Opportunity and access
  • Budget and funding priorities
  • Family engagement and communication

Who should attend the Family Advisory Council?

All parents and guardians of current GCPS students from elementary, middle, and high schools across GCPS are invited to attend the FAC meetings. To ensure districtwide representation, each Board of Education member may appoint up to six representatives from their board district. Additional members include PTA/PTO leaders and ambassadors who graduated from the Parent Leadership Academy in May 2025. Whether you are appointed, an active PTA member, or simply an engaged caregiver, we kindly request that you register for each meeting you plan to attend, so we can ensure we have the necessary resources to make each meeting a success.

Meeting Schedule (2025–2026)

To support two-way communication, all meetings will be held in person. Meeting times will alternate to accommodate family schedules. As we work to make Family Advisory Council meetings easier for everyone to attend, we'll rotate meeting locations so families from all parts of Gwinnett can attend a meeting close to home. Meetings will be held at different churches, schools, and district and community buildings across the county. We will continue to update this page as locations are confirmed. We're excited to bring these conversations into more neighborhoods and hope this change helps even more families share their ideas and feedback to strengthen our schools and community.

Registration

Please let us know if you will attend each meeting so that we can provide adequate resources. For those who register, meeting reminders, room information, and parking details will be sent 1-2 business days before the meeting.

If you did not register, you are still welcome to attend. We use registrations prior to each meeting to secure interpreters, prepare materials, arrange refreshments, and reserve seats.

How It Works

FAC members attend meetings, share feedback, and are encouraged to communicate what they experienced and learned back to their local school communities. We will ask all attendees to sign in at each meeting to be able to report on our engagement at the end of the year. Additionally, participation will be recognized at the end of the year for members who attend at least five of the eight in-person meetings.

Stay Connected

Meeting agendas, minutes, and updates will be shared here throughout the year (2-3 days after each meeting), on our Family Advisory Council Community Group on ParentSquare, which is open to the public.

Interpreter services are available upon request. This can be requested through the registration form.
