Facilities and Operations

Focused on planning, building and maintaining facilities that are safe, clean and optimal for student learning, and providing sound nutrition and safe, reliable transportation for all GCPS students.
 

The Division of Facilities and Operations employs established and transparent business practices and operational strategies that meet the public’s highest standards for accountability, equity, and trust. The division culture is one of exemplary performance, demonstrating efficiency and dependability across all areas and functions. The division motto – “We Make It Happen!” – exemplifies the unyielding commitment to meeting the operational needs of students and staff in a safe, timely and effective manner. The Facilities and Operations division is responsible for:

• Designing, constructing, equipping, and managing schools to be safe, secure, and conducive to student achievement, and providing learning environments that support high-quality teaching and student growth.
• Providing buildings, grounds, and athletic facilities that are modern, attractive, comfortable, energy-efficient, and well-maintained.
• Providing safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective transportation services.
• Providing each student with the affordable opportunity to consume meals that are nutritious, appealing, and served by caring professionals in a pleasant environment.

• Evaluating operational spending and contracted services to maximize productivity and efficiency toward reallocating cost savings to support students and teachers.
• Creating systems to rate the quality and condition of physical learning environments to ensure they are conducive to teaching and learning.
