Wellness Plan
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is committed to the optimal development of every student. GCPC believes that for students to have the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, developmental, and social success, we need to create positive, safe, and health-promoting learning environments at every level, in every setting, throughout the school year.
Gwinnett's Wellness Policy and Gwinnett's Wellness Plan comply with Section 204 of Public Law 108-265, Child Nutrition, WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, and Section 204 of Public Law 111-296 Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
GCPS will convene a representative District Wellness Committee (hereto referred to as the DWC) that meets two times per year to establish goals for and oversee school health and safety policies and programs, including development, implementation, and periodic review and update of this district-level Wellness Plan.
The DWC membership will represent all school levels and include (to the extent possible), but not be limited to: parents and caregivers, students, representatives of the school nutrition program, physical education teachers, health education teachers, school administrators, school board members, and the general public.

The Local Wellness Policy Final Rule requires Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to assess the extent to which their district Local Wellness Policy aligns with the model policies at least once every three years. Gwinnett's Local Wellness Policy Assessment may be viewed below.
