The Office of Behavior Support and Student Discipline is committed to fostering safe, supportive, and equitable learning environments for all students. Our work is grounded in a proactive approach—equipping schools with the tools, training, and interventions needed to prevent behavior challenges before they arise. Through initiatives such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Restorative Practices, and Advisement, we help schools strengthen their Tier 1 supports and build positive school cultures that promote student success.
At the same time, we remain responsive in supporting schools when behavioral incidents occur. We partner with leaders and staff to ensure consequences are administered in a fair, consistent, and equitable manner, aligned with district policy and student needs. Our goal is not only to address behavior in the moment, but to guide students toward long-term growth and success by pairing accountability with learning and support.
Through this balanced approach—proactive prevention and responsive intervention—the Office of Behavior Support and Student Discipline works alongside schools to reduce barriers to learning, promote equity, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
The Student Conduct Behavior Code provides a detailed explanation of student expectations, and the GCPS Code of Conduct for Athletes is referenced here.
