30 Day Report

Dr. Estrella at the District IV area board meeting

Executive Summary

During her first 30 days as Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools, Dr. Alexandra Estrella embarked on a focused listening and learning effort designed to deepen her understanding of the organizational context of GPCS. She sought first to understand the organization's structure and its people who work within the district.

As schools prepared to welcome students back for the new year, Dr. Estrella focused her first month on listening and learning. She met with school leaders, district staff, community partners, elected officials, and civic leaders to better understand the strengths, needs, and aspirations of GCPS.

A common theme emerged across all stakeholder groups: GCPS is rich with talent, passion, and commitment. Stakeholders highlighted significant strengths and pride across the district while also identifying opportunities to strengthen support for students.

These early insights will help inform ongoing engagement efforts, as schools reopen and opportunities expand to engage directly with students, families, and community members throughout the Superintendent's Listening and Learning Tour.
