All Pro Dad Program Strengthens Family Bonds in GCPS

Founded by Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy, the All Pro Dad program has made a lasting impact on Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), particularly in the Lanier Cluster. For over 10 years, Sugar Hill Elementary School has hosted this initiative, offering fathers, mothers, and caring adults a meaningful way to connect with their children while focusing on character building and emotional intelligence.

Each month, families gather for breakfast and intentional conversations. The meetings follow a consistent structure: introductions, an "I'm proud of you" moment where adults acknowledge their children's accomplishments, a talk centered around a character word that aligns with the district's social-emotional learning (SEL) objectives, discussion questions, and engaging activities. Meetings often feature giveaways, with breakfast typically including donuts or Chick-fil-A biscuits.

Led by a team of about 15 dedicated volunteers at Sugar Hill Elementary, the program cultivates a sense of community and belonging. “All Pro Dad encourages dads, moms, and other caring adults to pour into their children about topics that build character and emotional intelligence,” explains Sugar Hill Elementary Principal and All Pro Dad program lead Nick Boyers. “It creates space for families to engage in intentional conversations, connect with one another, and build relationships with other families.”

All Pro Dad continues to foster meaningful connections in GCPS, with elementary schools across the Lanier Cluster and the district proudly embracing the program's mission to strengthen families.
