Safe and Welcoming Schools
GCPS has identified four high-impact focus areas for 2024–25 that align closely with the mission and vision of the organization and are rooted in Our Blueprint for the Future, the district’s strategic plan:
- College and Career Readiness,
- Each and Every Student,
- Literacy Proficiency, and
- Safe and Welcoming Schools.
The Blueprint in Action focus for the months of April and May is Safe and Welcoming Schools. During these months we will be spotlighting how our schools are creating a safe and welcoming environment where students can pursue their passions and education, specifically highlighting the efforts in GCPS to meet these objectives in our strategic plan:
- Collaboratively develop customer service standards and train all front-line staff and new employees to create GCPS ambassadors. 4.A
- Value employees at all levels and in every facet of the organization, as evidenced by elevating their voices in decision-making, recognizing their work, celebrating their success, and maintaining competitive compensation and benefits packages. 4.A
- Improve two-way communication, engagement, and outreach that connect the community, the schools, and the district office. 4.C

Believing that strong mentorship is essential to the success of all students, Jones Middle School implemented a school-based mentoring program where teachers and staff provide crucial guidance to students both inside and outside of the classroom.

Elevating student voice begins with creating a safe space, where students can express themselves and learn in a comfortable environment.
South Gwinnett High School has initiated a movement to promote school safety that extends beyond the classroom.
Welcome home to GIVE Center West's new building! Brimming with light and rich in resources—including new classrooms and engineering labs—the building provides a nurturing atmosphere for students' well-being and academic focus.
