  • What is PBIS?

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a school-wide framework to promote and encourage students to SOAR at Alcova.

  • What is SOAR?

Our school wide matrix for behavior expectations is called SOAR. SOAR stands for Scholar, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.

  • What are Falcon Feathers?

When students are observed SOARING, they earn Falcon Feathers. Falcon Feathers are our reward (token economy) system to recognize students who, at any given time, exemplify one or more of our behavior expectations.

  • What is Palooza?

Palooza celebrations are held once every 9 weeks to reward students for good behavior. When at Palooza, students are able to trade in Falcon Feathers for items such as popcorn, lemonade, and popsicles.

  • What is the Falcon Flyer?

Falcon Feathers are accumulated over a given period of time (generally two weeks). Students are then able to redeem their Falcon Feathers for rewards from the “Falcon Flyer.”

  • How Many Falcon Feathers do You Need For a Reward?

Grade Levels determine how many Falcon Feathers are required to earn the Falcon Flyer. The number of required Falcon Feathers increases as the school year progresses.

  • Falcon Family Events

Falcon Family events are in place to integrate components of SOAR and to teach character education traits.

  • Where Can I Find More Information on PBIS?

We have a PBIS eClass page titled Alcova SOAR. Students and staff can access the page to ask questions and to brag on others.
