CHHS Safety Plan
We are committed to providing students with a safe learning environment. We will continue to uphold our vision of growing leaders through scholarship, service, and spirit as we teach and learn in a blended environment.
We ask that all persons (faculty, staff, students, and visitors) do a self-temperature and symptom check prior to arriving on campus. Persons with no fever, no symptoms, and no known exposure may enter but MUST wear a mask in the building. Masks must cover both the nose and the mouth, fit under the chin, and be secure against both sides of the face.
Upon arrival in the morning, buses will unload 5 buses at a time rather than a large scale release.
Students will proceed into the building where they may get breakfast if so desired.
Students will not be permitted to congregate. They will proceed directly to their classrooms.
Afternoon dismissal will be staggered with the first classes dismissed at 2:10. Car riders and drivers will proceed directly to their vehicles upon dismissal.
Students must clear the building after school.
To prevent crowds in the offices, students who are tardy will report directly to the classroom. Only check-ins and check-outs will be conducted through the offices. The student's ID will be scanned for check-ins and outs, eliminating the need to touch the keypads. Absence notes may be submitted via email to Hollie.Brookshire@gcpsk12.org.
Payment will be managed through MyPaymentsPlus and students will use their IDs at the checkout register. Sanitizer is available and the use of sanitizer will be required upon entering the serving line.
Upon entering the school, students may pick up their breakfast from the Commons. They will transition immediately to their classes. Staff will be stationed in the Commons and hallways to ensure that students do not congregate.
As in the past, lunch will be served in four shifts. When a class is released for lunch, students will proceed directly to the Commons to get lunch. Student seating will all face the same direction and seats will be arranged to maximize distance. We will also utilize the gym lobby, activity room, and outdoor seating. Once seated, students will remain seated until lunch dismissal. Students will be directed to exit in an orderly fashion. Staff will monitor all eating areas and hallways during lunch.
Media Center Procedures
Digital learners may visit the media center to check out Mon.-Thurs. from 11:15 am-1:15 pm and Fridays from 10 am -2 pm. They must check-in at the front office with their ID. Staff will monitor admission to ensure that social distancing can be accommodated. In order to increase safety in the face of COVID, students will need to wear a mask and gloves (gloves will be provided but masks will not) when entering the space. Students will also need to practice social distancing. Students can place holds on books through the media catalog via the student portal. We will send an email when the books are ready for pick up! Students may also access our expanded digital library!
Social distancing in the hallways.
One-direction flow marked throughout the building.
Staff monitoring between classes.
No lockers will be issued at this time.
No Water Fountains
Students should bring water from home.
Hand sanitizer stations are adhered to the walls throughout the building. They will be routinely restocked. Hand sanitizer is also supplied in every classroom.
Students should sanitize hands upon entering the classroom. To the extent possible, students will be physically distanced. All desks will face the same direction. Desks will be sanitized between classes.
Athletics and Clubs
Athletics continues to follow GHSA guidelines. We have implemented medical screening for all athletes and coaches upon arrival on campus, and extensive cleaning and disinfecting protocols are in place for all facilities. Spectator numbers have been reduced in order to allow for social distancing at all events. All screen outs, suspected cases, or positive cases are reported by the Athletic Director through the Health Response Team process.
Collins Hill Clubs are meeting virtually this school year. Club sponsors have scheduled digital meeting times for their respective clubs.
Health and PE Classes
Health and PE classes will wear masks while indoors.
Class sizes will be reduced, when possible, to allow for social distancing during activities.
Classes will focus on individual skills to allow social distancing.
Outdoor activities will be used as much as possible and as weather permits.
Locker rooms will not be in use for PE classes. Students are asked to come to school dressed in attire that can be worn during light physical activity. Hallway lockers will be assigned for valuables for those students in a PE class.
Students will be asked to bring their own water bottles from home that can be refilled at one of our water stations as water fountains are not permitted at this time.
M/W: In-person students will focus on physical activity; digital students work on eClass assignments. T/Th: In-person students will focus on AKS-based lessons; digital students are in live sessions with teachers. Friday: Students have a choice of activities including the opportunity for remediation.
