Rising 9th Grade Information
Beginning on Wednesday, February 17th, Grayson High School is scheduling our rising 9th grade Rams for the upcoming school year. This is always an exciting time for the current 8th graders and an exciting time for our teachers at the high school. During this week, please spend some time looking at the videos and information our Curriculum Office and our GHS teachers have prepared.
On Tuesday, February 23rd, we will have our virtual rising 9th grade evening. The format is obviously different this year, but our goals remain the same. We want to give our students and their families as much relevant information as we can pertaining to the course options for electives, differences between levels for our core classes and any other sort of information that makes the transition to Grayson High School easier for parents and students.
We will be providing a detailed agenda for the evening complete with zoom links for the various sessions we are offering. We will have sessions offered at three different times (6, 6:30 and 7 PM). These sessions are designed as Question and Answer sessions after you have watched the relevant videos below. Link to the Agenda for February 23rd. We will provide an updated agenda next week with the zoom links.
After next Tuesday, we are asking each family to complete this link below to inform GHS's Curriculum Office of any changes and additions needed to complete your child's 9th grade schedule. Please take your time and make sure you reach out if you have any questions. This form is REQUIRED for each student. *Form must be completed by Friday, February 26th.

Can current 8th grade students see next year's course offerings?
Yes, if students are currently zoned to Grayson High School, their course offerings are viewable in their Eclass > StudentVue page. These courses were selected as a joint effort between their current teachers and Dr. Seth Rhine, the AP of Curriculum & Instruction at Grayson High School. We have worked hard to ensure that students are placed in the most rigorous level that we feel the student can be successful.
Where can I find more information about potential electives for my child?
Our rising 9th graders have a wide variety of options for electives. Please consult the following documents and videos to learn more information about these options. Electives generally fall into three broad categories: Academic (Social Studies and Science electives), General Electives (Physical Education electives) and the Foreign Language / Fine Arts / Technical Education category. Students must complete three full years of credits from this last category for graduation. You are NOT required to take all three types for graduation, just three courses from this category during your high school career.
