Special Program at GIVE West: Apex by Viewpoint
Tonicia (Toni) Brandon is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Toni’s areas of expertise include (but are not limited to) challenged adolescents, engagement, mediation, assessing suicidality, depression, anxiety, and overall whole body wellness. Toni has worked in corrections, community based programs, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and most recent the Gwinnet County school system. Toni is co- published in an article entitled “Attitudes Toward the Mentally Ill,” that won honorable mention in the poster presentation at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC). Toni is also a certified professional counselor supervisor, and serves as a mentor for associate level counselors. Toni prides herself in setting boundaries, as well as having a healthy balance between work and play. Toni’s professional and personal belief is “with purpose and perspective, the possibilities are endless.”
Apex is a program under Viewport Health that provides individual, family, group psychotherapy, and case management at designated schools. The purpose is to provide prevention, education and early intervention services at school, including but not limited to faculty consultation, student services team staffing, support group for students and/or parents education, staff meetings and in-service training's. Therapist coordinate treatment with the student, their family and teacher and other resources as indicated (e.g. probation officer, student support team, natural supports, physician and school student support professionals). Apex build and support school-based mental health programs under system of care lens as well as a service to be able to sustain the program administratively and financially.
