My name is Jennifer Little, and I am happy to be here at Arcado! I have been an educator for 18 years, graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and earning my Master's degree in School Counseling at Georgia State University. My career began as an elementary school teacher in Tennessee, moving to Virginia, and finally, Georgia. I loved teaching and spent a lot of time supporting students who had roadblocks to their learning. Whether difficulties at home, handling emotions, dealing with friendship issues, or other numerous situations like learning how to get organized, children may need specialized support in navigating their journey, so I directed my focus to school counseling. I have been a school counselor for eight years, and I enjoy the best of both worlds: teaching core classroom lessons. working with students individually, or in groups, as well as meeting with parents, teachers, and other staff.

This year, I am job-sharing with Alina Ruiz, (we are both part-time). Together, we support 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, as well as Ms. Stanfield, Ms. Hobson, and Mr. Sadler's students. We are here to help!

Ms. Alina Ruiz

Hello! My name is Alina Ruiz. Previously, I had a career in wildlife biology doing herpetology research (reptiles and amphibians). My thesis research was published in 2010 in the journal of Environmental Science and Technology and is titled “Patterns of development and abnormalities among tadpoles in a constructed wetland receiving treated wastewater.” Throughout my career as a wildlife biologist, I worked closely with school children to increase awareness about our Earth’s natural resources and what they can do to help the Earth. I also worked as an environmental educator at Stone Mountain Park’s Environmental and Historical Education Center for about 4 years. Teaching children and helping others (including our furry, feathered, and scaly friends) is my passion!

I LOVE to play soccer and I LOVE to be surrounded by nature whether it is taking care of my wildflower garden at home or searching for critters in the woods, non-venomous ones, that is :)
