• Readers Rally

    Readers Rally is a reading quiz bowl style competition for students in grades four through twelve. Its mission is to promote reading among students who desire to share their love of reading with others.  Students read books from a district-selected book list and participate in discussion and activites pertaining to those books.  The club will culminate in a school competition which will determine the team of 10 students who will advance to the county competition in the Spring.

    Grade Level:
    Readers Rally is for 4th and 5th graders.  It is limited to 20 students; however, the competition will only include 10 students age 9 or over.  

    Meeting Days:
    Friday mornings 7:00-7:45 am until 6 weeks before the competiton.  At that time, we will meet 2-3 times a week (mornings, lunch meetings, and afternoons).

    Our first meeting will be Friday, September 27, 2019 and will conclude one week post competition.  

  • LEGO Robotics Club

    LEGO Robotics Team is built around theme-based Challenges that engage children ages 9 to 16 in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering.  The foundation of the program is the FIRST Core Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and innovation.  Students emerge more confident, excited, and equipped with the skills they need in a chaning workforce.

  • Computer Science

    The new Computer Science Club is aimed at creating a website by coding.

  • S.W.A.T.

    S.W.A.T (students working with advanced technology) is a team of student leaders who are trained to assist with Media Center resource circulation, encourage digital citizenship, and create/pilot new technology opportunities.

    The S.W.A.T team is reserved for 4th and 5th graders and is limited to 25 students.

    Meeting Days:
    This club will meet throughout the day on rotation.  Starting in September, monthly after school meetings will begin.

    Our first meeting will be Monday, August 26, 2019.  It will conclude in May.   

  • Knightly News Crew

    The Knightly News Crew teaches broadcast and production skills in order to create and implement the daily announcements that occur at our school.  Our 5th Grade students learn to produce the entire show. The news staff consists of: Director, Anchors, Video Mixer, Camera Operator, Teleprompter Controller, Audio Mixer Engineer, Sound Engineer, Weather Reporter, and Lunch Reporter.

    The Knightly News is for 5th graders.

    Meeting Days:
    Monday-Friday mornings.  Groups of 8 will rotate every 6-8 weeks. 

    Meeting Time:
    7:45-8:15 am

    We will begin broadcasting with students during the 3rd week of school.  

  • Chorus

    The Simonton Chorus is a performance based ensemble where students will participate in rehearsals and performances.  The Simonton singers will perform at various concerts here at school and in the community.

    Our first meeting will be in mid-September and will continue through March and May.  April rehearsals will pause for testing.  

  • Instrumental Ensemble

    This performance ensemble provides students with the opportunity to learn and perform on various instruments as a group.  Students will learn to read, play, and compose a variety of pieces including traditional Orff instruments (xylophones/glockenspiels), small percussion, recorders, and many more.

  • Boys2Men Mentoring

    Boys2Men Mentoring is a club for the boys of Simonton Elementary.  Its mission is to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to help them become successful young adults, both in and out of school.

  • Girls on the Run

    Girls on the Run, or GOTR, is a club focused on inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.  If you are interested in being apart of this club, you will need to register on-line. At that time, you will be put into a lottery and 15 girls will randomly be chosen from the selection.  

    Lottery Registration Opens August 14-21...
    Parents/Guardians you can register your girl any time during this period.  Registration will close at 11:59 pm on August 21.  

    Lottery Run August 22...
    A computer-generated lottery will randomly choose participates to fill the available spots for each team and parents/guardians will receive an email regarding your girl's status.  Our team limit is 15 girls.

  • Good News Club

    Good News Club provides children with foundational principles that equips them with tools they need for success in school and in life.  Children have the opportunity to interact with people that exemplify Christian principles and serve as role models that all children need to experience. Real life problems for many children are complicated and Good News Club is a positive, uplifting place that offer alternative solutions for children.

  • Young Rembrandts

    Young Rembrandts offers art classes for kids. Local drawing lessons are available after school in Suwanee, Norcross, Lawrenceville, Buford, Sugar Hill, Duluth and Cumming. Our preschool drawing, elementary drawing and cartoon drawing classes complement and expand existing art programs in local Gwinnett and Forsyth County schools. Young Rembrandts provides all materials, top-quality instructors and curriculum for weekly drawing classes. Our classes are built to be fun, but children who participate in Young Rembrandts local art classes increase overall academic skills, fine motor skills, social skills and confidence.

  • Chess Adventures

    Chess Adventures Club was developed to explore the fun side of chess. Scientific facts prove chess helps develop mental stimulation and increases brain power. Chess Adventures focuses on keeping kids wanting to learn. We provide silly sets, animated chess video cartoons, fun clocks and chess computer games via our netbooks and laptops in each one of our classes.
