About Us
Purpose: To promote scholarship in mathematics and service to the community. The Mill Creek chapter of Mu Alpha Theta is part of the National Math Honor Society.
Dues: $35.00 per year due by mid-September for current and new members. This fee includes National membership fees, t-shirt, cords for seniors, and pizza party. Do not pay dues until you are verified to be eligible by Mrs. Vasquez.
Eligibility Requirements

Grade Level – Fifth semester or more of high school math, meaning pre-calculus and up.

Grades – The student must have at least a 90 average in all math classes on record. The student is responsible for verifying grades with a sponsor at the beginning of each semester. A copy of the report card may be used for this purpose.

Attendance at meetings – In order to maintain membership in Mu Alpha Theta, members may have no more than ONE unexcused absence from a meeting per school year, or your membership may be revoked.

Service – All members: At least Twenty hours with a minimum of 10 being math activity hours (doing something that promotes math or the math department at Mill Creek, like tutoring or math team) are required.

Seniors must complete all 10 intervention or tutoring hours by December. All 20 hours must be completed by Feb. 28th for seniors. All other members must complete 20 hours by April 25th.

Transportation: All students are responsible for their own transportation to and from meetings as well as all activities they choose as service opportunities.
MEMBERSHIP: If you wish to be considered as an active member (either new or returning member) for the 2022-23 school year, please fill out the google link when made and then go to studentVUE on your device to take a screenshot of your math course history. Send the screenshots to Mrs. Vasquez at anna.vasquez@gcpsk12.org before the first meeting on August 30th. Make sure the email title has “MAO LastName, FirstName”. Mrs. V will check them and respond to your email. Then you may go to MyPaymentsPlus to pay dues.
Meetings
MEETINGS will be held on the last Tuesday of every month in C211 immediately after school.
