Jason Lane

Jason Lane serves as the principal of Mill Creek High School.  He began his career in 1998 teaching French at Crawford County High School in Roberta, Georgia, and continued at Hephzibah High School in Augusta, Georgia, where he was also an assistant football coach and the head women’s soccer coach.  Mr. Lane became an Assistant Principal at Brookwood High School in 2002 and later served in this same role at North Gwinnett High School. In 2008, Mr. Lane was chosen to be the principal of Duluth High School where he remained until coming to Mill Creek in December of 2012. As a principal, Mr. Lane focuses his efforts on building positive relationships, designing and sustaining an instructional framework, building leadership capacity, and supporting teacher collaboration.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in French, both from Valdosta State University; a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Augusta State University; and a Certificat Pratique de Langue Francaise (1er degree) from the University of Caen in Normandy, France.  In addition to his role as principal of Mill Creek, Mr. Lane currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the Growing Leaders Initiative and the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team.  In his spare time, Mr. Lane enjoys playing tennis and golf.  He and his wife Lisa have two sons, both of whom attend school in the Mill Creek cluster.

Dr. Chesley Cypert

Dr. Chesley Cypert serves as the Associate Principal and oversees all areas of instruction. Dr. Cypert brings 17 years of educational experience to our team and has been at Mill Creek since it opened in 2004. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management; a Master's of Education in Business Education; an Educational Specialist in Instructional Technology; and a Doctorate of Education in Workforce Education from the University of Georgia. She is certified in the fields of Business Education (6-12), Marketing Education (6-12) and Educational Leadership (P-12)

Tania Bethel

Tania Bethel is currently an Assistant Principal in the Curriculum Office and responsible for the MCHS Science Department. She taught Middle School Science in the South Gwinnett Cluster for 8 years before joining the Administrative staff at Mill Creek High School. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Science Education from the University of Florida and a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Bethel is certified in the fields of Biology (6-12), Physical Science (6-12), and Earth Science (6-12). Ms. Bethel is originally from South Florida and is the second oldest of six siblings.

Dr. Monica Cook

Dr. Monica Hudson Cook started her educational career 21 years ago at Berkmar High. She started out as teacher, head coach of two sports, and as a department chair. Since her transition to Mill Creek High School in 2007, she has served in various administrative roles. At this time, she currently serves as the Discipline Assistant Principal for 10th grade students, AP Testing, Academic Letter Night, All A's Breakfast, and oversees the instruction of our Social Studies and Visual Arts departments.

Dr. Cook has earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education with a focus in Health & Physical Education from Fort Valley State University, a Master's of Arts in Adult/Instructional Education from Central Michigan University, a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctoral degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. When away from school, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents, cooking on the grill, participating in community service related events with her sorority (Delta Sigma Theta), and traveling with her best friends.

Dr. Steven Hardegree

DR. STEVEN HARDEGREE currently serves as Mill Creek High School's Discipline Coordinator and oversees the discipline for 11th and 12th grade students. He brings twenty five years of educational experience to our team and is a graduate of Shiloh High School. Along with being our Discipline Coordinator, Dr. Hardegree is responsible for Graduation, Parking, and Safety & Security Coordination, and serves as a GCPS Hearing Officer. He also oversees the instruction of Mill Creek High School's Foreign Language department. 
Dr. Hardegree has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education, a Master's degree in Teaching Philosophy, a Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Doctioral degree in Instructional Leadership. Dr. Hardegree is certified in the fields of Social Studies Broad Field (9-12) and Educational Leadership (P-12). Dr. Hardegree has been married to his wife Amity for 25 years and has 3 children. Dr. Hardegree enjoys all outdoor activities, particularly wild boar hunting and bass fishing.

Dr. Vicki Husby

Dr. Vicki Husby serves as assistant principal for Special Education, English Speakers of Other Languages, 504 Plans, and Student Support Teams. She began her career in 1995 and has served as a middle school teacher, high school instructional coach, K-12 curriculum coordinator, high school special education coordinator, secondary curriculum director, professional learning director, teacher development consultant, adjunct university professor and professional grant writing trainer.  Dr. Husby has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with endorsements in Middle Grades Education and Spanish. She has a Master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities. She also has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, with an emphasis in teacher development. She is certified in the areas of Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Gifted Education, K-12 Special Education and Educational Leadership.  Dr. Husby is married and has a son and daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing “bucket list” experiences with them. In her spare time she likes Bible study, watching super hero movies, and bargain shopping with a Starbucks frappuccino in her hand.

Lacey Jakes

Lacey Jakes serves at the Assistant Principal in the Curriculum Department and also oversees the instruction of the EPIC program (project based learning). In addition she works with class schedules and registration, final exams, grading, orientation day, and curriculum night. Ms. Jakes has 17 years experience teaching primarily in mathematics, has served as the Department Chair, has lead multiple teams, and facilitates staff development. Ms. Jakes is a Gwinnett county high school graduate of Shiloh High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Policy and Planning from Georgia Tech and a Masters of Arts in Instructional Systems from Florida State University.  She is certified in the fields of Mathematics, Social Science, Educational Leadership, and is a Georgia Master Teacher. She is married with two sons, who are actively involved in the Mill Creek Community.

Gary Long

Gary Long is the Athletic and Activities Director at Mill Creek Mr. Long is a Veteran of the US Army and has 38 years of educational experience. Mr. Long has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Master’s in History Education from North Georgia College and a Educational Specialist degree in Administration from Georgia State University. Gary is married with two children and 3 grandchildren.  He enjoys reading and telling stories to his grandchildren.

Terry May

Terry currently serves as the Testing Coordinator at MCHS and works with the Math Department and is in his 20th year as an educator in GCPS, and 24th overall. He has been at Mill Creek since it opened in 2004.  Terry is married to his wife Mary of 21 years and they have five children, four of whom attend school in the Mill Creek cluster.  Terry graduated from UGA with a bachelor's degree in Social Studies education. He also has a Masters and Specialist from UGA as well.  In his spare time, which is rare with five children, Terry enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, and reading.

Jordan Raettig

Jordan Raettig serves as the Assistant Principal for 9th grade discipline and oversees the MCHS Language Arts Department. Mrs. Raettig also oversees the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports initiative.  Mrs. Raettig holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Columbus State University, a Master of Business Administration from Troy University, and an Educational Specialist in Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment from Walden University. She is certified in the fields of English, Science, Special Education, & Gifted Education, as well as Middle Grades Math, Science, and Language Arts.  Mrs. Raettig is married to her husband, Matt, and has two children, Levi & Logan. Mrs. Raettig is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with her family. Mrs. Raettig loves sports and enjoys cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Auburn Tigers. War Eagle!

Dr. Victoria Starr

Dr. Victoria Starr serves as the Community School Director for the schools in the Mill Creek cluster. She has a BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia; MEd in English Education from Georgia State University; and PhD of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University. Prior to coming to Mill Creek, she taught language arts in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties. Dr. Starr enjoys yoga, volunteering at church, and playing with her Chihuahuas.

Dr. Ryan Vamplew

Dr. Ryan Vamplew is currently an Assistant Principal in charge of attendance, school wide staff development, RISE, Mill Creek’s Graduation Rate (School Plus and Credit Recovery), and transportation.  Dr. Vamplew is over the Social Studies (11th & 12th Grade), Business Technology, Media Center, and Counseling Department. Dr. Vamplew earned a Bachelor’s of History and Geography from Central Michigan University; a Master’s and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of Georgia. Dr. Vamplew has held teaching positions at The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology and Duluth High School.  He also spend time at Gwinnett’s Central Office as an eClass Instructional Specialist.   Ryan is married to Allyson Vamplew, who is the Special Education Department Chair at Duluth High School.  They have two sons; Lucas (4), Joshua (2), and a third son due in the Spring.  Ryan enjoys playing baseball and football in the yard with his boys along with running as a hobby.
