I was the first in my family to go to college which really motivates me to work with students because navigating what happens after high school can be really complicated! I love laughing, being goofy, watching soccer, and helping people realize how awesome they are.

My journey at Berkmar High School began in 2017, and I love serving my students and families to ensure the best High School experience possible. My passion centers around my commitment within the areas of academic advising, counseling, and teaching, as I have been within the educational system for more than 6 years. I enjoy reading books and going on trips to the beach. I also look forward to hanging out with Disney Characters during summer breaks.

Dr. Renae Jackson - Media, Arts, and Communication Academy (M-Z)

I am a native of Georgia and have worked in education for several years.  Previously, I worked as a high school Language Arts teacher and Adjunct Instructor at the collegiate level.  My current role as a School Counselor allows me to utilize my distinct passion for advocating on behalf of all students and providing them with the most effective interventions and support so they may continue to experience academic, social and career development.  In addition to my daily duties and responsibilities, I also volunteer as a Georgia Career Guidance and Counseling School Counselor Ambassador and serve on the GCPS Steering Committee and Emergency Response Team.

I am a proud member of the Georgia School Counselor Association and American School Counselor Association.  Additionally, I am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading, shopping and creating natural personal hygiene products.

Originally from south Louisiana, I love great Cajun Cooking! My passion is riding my Harley Davidson morotcycle, feeling the sun at my back and the wind in my face. My wife also loves to ride with me and we enjoy spending countless hours riding in the mountains. I love to read and travel.

Hailing to you from the Buckeye state, Motown and the Big Apple, I am now a proud Georgia Peach!  Education has always been a part of my family life and history as my lineage embraces many educators.  I have chosen to be a life-long learner, and accept new challenges.

I have been in the field of education for approximately 20 years…working in a high school jobs program,  and currently as a school counselor.  To join Gwinnett County Public Schools, particularly Berkmar High School, has been by far one of my best choices.

At Berkmar High School, I work within the Entrepreneurship and Leadership program with a host of talented colleagues!  Our goal is to expose students to opportunities through army JROTC, Marketing -  Management and Entrepreneurship utilizing classwork, speakers, hands-on activities and field trips.

Mr. Antwawn Sheats - Academy Specialist

Antwawn Sheats is certified school counselor, but is serving in a new role this year as Academy Specialist for Gwinnett County School District. His primary goal is to support counselors at Berkmar with Post-Secondary planning options for students. Mr. Sheats’ College & Career Academy office is a one-stop shop for College & Career advising and programing. Mr. Sheats has over 15 years of experiences in multiple educational settings and has a passion for connecting students to their goals and aspirations.
